Enzo Maresca speaks on the possible Chelsea signing of £300K-a-week star
Enzo Maresca as opened up and spoken about the rumours regarding the Chelsea signing of Jadon Sancho – and the possible departure of winger Raheem Sterling by the end of the window,
Sancho has fallen out of favour at United after a public spat with manager Erik ten Hag, who remained in charge after winning the FA Cup, and the winger spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund and played in the Champions League final.
According to reports in Italy, Manchester United have been offering the England international out and are looking to make a profit, and a number of clubs have been offered the chance to sign the 24-year-old, including CHELSEA.
And it also been claimed that Raheem Sterling would be going the other way – as he is seemingly done at Chelsea and now Maresca has spoken about the future of Sterling and Sancho.
‘I said already many times, he is a fantastic person,’ Maresca said when quizzed about Sterling. ‘The only thing is that every manager has a different idea.
‘He is not the type of winger I like. That says nothing about Raheem. The history and the numbers speak for Raheem.’
Asked about CHELSEA’s transfer interest in Sancho, Maresca added: ‘If we can sign a player that can help us, for sure I would do it. Jadon is not our player. I know him very well. But he is not our player.’
Amid all the speculation and rumours, Michael Owen has given his verdict on a possible deal for the attacker: “Jadon Sancho took a really risky move in many ways but almost an unavoidable one in going back to where he was to try to reignite that spark, and he’s done particularly well,” he told Prime Casino.
“I’m sure he probably would have preferred there to have been a change of manager at Old Trafford so it was a clean slate and he could come back and hopefully start again.
“I don’t know what his future holds, but he’s certainly gone away and proven that he can still cut it at the top level.”
