Higuain announcement imminent, Morata talks, Hudson-Odoi in talks, Merson opens up in Chelsea Thursday news and gossip
Here is the daily roundup of Chelsea news, gossip and transfer speculation from IcFootballnews.
Chelsea have agreed a deal to bring Gonzalo Higuain to Stamford Bridge on a loan deal, according to reports.
Higuain is currently on loan at AC Milan from Juventus after the Champions decided to let him leave in the summer after the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, with many reports suggesting that Juventus had to offload the Argentine striker to balance the wage bill.
But his move to Milan has not worked out as many had hoped and he has struggled in front of goal this season, with Higuain not netting for the Italian side since October and that has led to speculation that the Italians want to get rid.
And with reports Alvaro Morata is in deep talks to also leave Chelsea and head to Athletico Madrid, especially since he has been dropped by Sarri this season for star man Eden Hazard to lead the front-line, a deal for Higuian has become a top target for the club.
Now reports on the Sky Sports website has revealed Chelsea have agreed a deal with Juventus to sign Higuain on loan until the end of the season, with reports saying it is understood the loan could then be extended for another 12 months subject to certain conditions.
Sarri is desperate to bring his former player to the squad, despite the worries from the club that Higuain is not the answer to the clubs striking problems.
ayern Munich say they are “in talks” with Chelsea over a possible deal to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Odoi is now considered one of the best talents in England and his performances have caught the attentions of German Champions Bayern, who see him as the next Jadon Sancho.
Reports in the media over the last weeks have claimed Bayern have made four bids to try and seal a deal for Hudson-Odoi this January, all which have been rejected by Chelsea.
The Blues know the talented winger has eighteen months to go on his contract, but are keen to nail him down to a new contract and have no intention of letting him join the Germans.
However, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has commented again on Hudson-Odoi.
“We are in talks with Chelsea,” Salihamidzic told Sport Bild.
“We want to sign the player. I am fully convinced of his abilities.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri recently slated the Germans for their pursuit of Hudson-Odoi, claiming their chase has not been professional.
He said on the Sky Sports website: “I think that it’s not professional because they are talking about a player under contract at Chelsea.
“They didn’t respect our club, I think. I don’t know what to say, I do not know the situation. I am very, very happy with the player because the player is improving.”
Fresh reports have claimed Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata in in advanced talks to sign for Atletico Madrid.
Morata is reportedly unhappy at Stamford Bridge and chose not to celebrate either of his goals in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on last week, as reports suggest he is seeking a way out of the Premier League.
He has only netted 8-goals for the club this season and his lack of finishing has led to speculation boss Maurizio Sarri is keen to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.
The Italian is reportedly on verge of acquiring the services of Gonzal Higuain on a loan deal until the end of the season, meaning there ius no need to have Morata in the squad much longer.
And according to reports on the Sky Sports website, Chelsea would prefer a permanent deal to let Morata leave the club, with the club eager to recoup as much of their investment back as possible, after talks opened about a £45 million deal.
Arsenal legend Paul Merson has questioned Gonzalo Higuain’s pedigree to play in a key role in the Premier League ahead of his proposed move to Chelsea.
After months of speculation and weeks of talks, reports in the media over the past few days have all suggested that Higuain has agreed a loan deal until the end of the season, with the option of a further 12 month deal if certain aspects of the deal are met.
However, there are some out there who believe that Higuain does not have the quality any longer to cut it in the Premier League, having failed to impress his current employers AC Milan this season.
And Gunners legend Merson is one of them, believing that Chelsea should have moved for a player that is already adjusted to the Premier League.
“I’m not sure on him,” Merson said on the Sky Sports website.
“He was a great player but looks below his best of late.
“He hasn’t pulled up trees for a while and now he’s coming to the hardest league in the world.
“He won’t have any time to adapt either as he needs to hit the ground running as Chelsea need someone to play as their focal point.
“I’d rather someone that has played in the Premier League before and knows what this league demands.”
