Darren Ambrose would love to see Christian Eriksen re-sign for Tottenham when the transfer window opens up in just a few months time

The Danish star almost died during the European Championships last summer and is very lucky to be alive, never-mind playing at a very high level in the Premier League.

He was ultimately let go by Inter Milan as Italy sporting regulations meant he couldn’t continue his career in Serie A as he has had an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD).

That allowed Brentford to swoop in and offer him a contract until the end of the season, and despite all the worries that he may not be able to cope – he has been brilliant for the club since his arrival

He once again showed his brilliance against Chelsea at the weekend and former Premier League star Ambrose would welcome Eriksen back to north London, where he spent six and a half seasons before a transfer to Italy, where he won the Serie A title.

Speaking about the Dane’s future, he said: “He could be loyal to Brentford but it depends on what Christian Eriksen wants, if he wants to show loyalty and he’s enjoying his football and he [might] says ‘right, I’m going to give back to Brentford because they put their trust in me when it looked like no one else was going to’.

“But he’s only 30, I believe, and he might be ambitious and he might think, ‘you know what? I want another crack at the very top’.

“I think there will be top, top teams in for him. [Antonio] Conte has already showed his interest in Eriksen.

“I would love him back at Tottenham, I think that is what we’re missing.”
