Sean Duche has been told to bring Premier League powerhouse to Everton
After a poor start to the new season – Everton made the decision to sack Frank Lampard and bring in Dyche – who is a man that knows how to get out of a relegation battle.
But that doesn’t solve the problem that they are lacking goals – and there has been some speculation that Everton may try and make a move for the Hammers powerhouse – who has been linked with a move away.
The 32-year-old has 18 months left on his contract at the London Stadium and has been linked with a shock loan to Chelsea, as well as fellow strugglers Wolves, but admitted leaving West Ham would be tough.
But now Martin Keown urged Everton to make a move for Antonio with only four days remaining of the transfer window to bolster the squad – He said: “I think Sean Dyche sitting down with the players, we talked about this before, meeting the players, finding out what is going on, ‘What character have I got in front of me? Is it bad? Can we repair the damage? Okay, no’.
“Right, Antonio might be available at West Ham. There are options, let’s get him.
“I don’t know how Dyche works, he is not that prolific in the transfer market. Having said that, this is a different club, this is Everton now.
“So maybe it is, maybe his first step is to spend some of that money and get the player out.
“So a lot of thinking to do for the manager and immediately you have got to get to work quickly.
“One assumes that he had one eye on the job and the team for the last number of weeks.”
