Fabrizio Romano reveals is £103 million star will join Man United this summer
Manchester United are unlikely to make a move for Benfica midfielder Joao Neves this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Manchester United are not having the best of seasons under Erik Ten Hag and are very unlikely to get Champions League football by the end of the season – which means they will need to spend in the summer.
It is no secret in the media that defender Raphael Varane is very likely to leave the club at the end of the season and move back to Saudi Arabia – as he is done at the very highest level of the game
Joao Neves is a player that the likes of Man United have been linked with in recent weeks – although his massive £100 million asking price may become an issue for some chasing clubs in the summer.
But that has not stopped all the speculation that he is a player that Man United would love to sign – especially as many believe he has the ability to develop into one of the very best defenders in world football.
But Speaking on the United Stand YouTube channel, Romano confirmed that the 19-year-old is a player that the club “love” but the cost of the deal may stop a transfer from happening:
“A player like Joao Neves of Benfica. He’s a player they love because they’ve been scouting him for months. They believe he’s going to be a fantastic player in the future.”

Spending £103 million on a talent like Neves is mad – he has alot to prove and many fans would much prefer the club spend that kind of money on a world class player that can make an immediate impact.
The transfer is a few months away – but Manchester United need to make sure they sign quality over quantity.
