William Gallas has named Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante ‘the best player in the world’
Kante is coming off the back of a stunning campaign with Chelsea where he played a pivotal role in the club’s Champions League success under the guidance of Thomas Tuchel.
The Frenchman is heavily tipped to claim the Ballon D’or next January after his stunning season with the Blues, and is also in line for a new contract with the Blues as the club plot talks after the European Championships have finished.
And now, Gallas has opened up and claimed that Kante is easily the best player in world football right now: ‘Everybody loves N’Golo and it is easy to see why.’ Gallas told 101 Great Goals.
‘For me at the moment he is the best player in the world.
‘I know people will talk about strikers because fans like to see goals and they appreciate attacking players more.
‘But if you look at what N’Golo has done since he arrived in England it is phenomenal.
‘He won the league with Leicester, then went to Chelsea and won it there, he has won the Europa League and now the Champions League as well as winning the World Cup with France.
‘That is amazing, for me he is the best player in the world.’
Kante is one of the very best players in world football so it is a massive claim.
It will be interesting to see if he wins that big prize in January because he fully deserves it after the season that he has had
John Barnes says Liverpool do not “need to buy an Erling Haaland in the transfer window, handing Chelsea a boost
Haaland will be one of the most in-demand players after the European Championships have finished, with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City just three clubs that are interested in a potential deal.
It has been claimed that he could cost £154 million, which only a handful of clubs can pay, and will demand a wage in excess of £300,000-a-week, which could make him one of the highest earners in world football.
But amid speculation suggesting that Liverpool could be looking to make a move, Reds legend Barnes has opened the door for the likes of Chelsea by claiming that the Reds do not need to buy Haaland this summer.
Speaking in association with BonusCodeBets, he told Goal on summer recruitment at Anfield: “I don’t see Liverpool making a marquee signing this summer, unless one of their marquee players goes.
“Having Virgil van Dijk back to fitness is like a new signing. Ibrahima Konate has come in to play alongside him, and Liverpool still have Joel Matip and Joe Gomez. Once Liverpool get their defenders and midfielders back, as long as they keep the nucleus of the team, they have what they need.
“With the Konate signing, Diogo Jota, who can play in the front three or midfield three, and players like Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaquiri and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain still in the squad, unless Liverpool lose players, it’s difficult to determine what they need.
“There are teams, like Arsenal for instance, who need to bring players in to go straight into their team. Liverpool don’t need that. They don’t need to buy an Erling Haaland to come into the team, unless they lose one of the first XI.”
Chelsea look set to rival Manchester United in the race for Saul Niguez as Atletico Madrid lower their asking price to £68million.
Saul won his first La Liga title with Atletico this season, but his involvement significantly decreased compared to past seasons. In the previous three campaigns, he made at least 30 league starts as Atletico finished second in both 2018 and 2019 and third in 2020.
However, in 2020/21, he made just 22 starts as Simeone led the club to its first Spanish title win in seven years, and His drop down the pecking order has reportedly resulted in him desiring a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano in the upcoming transfer window.
And According to of Mundo Deportivo, Saul is ‘determined’ to part ways with Atletico this summer, with Chelsea now ready to try and make a transfer move.
Saul has a £129million (€150m) release clause in his Atletico contract, but with the deal expiring in 2026, the club would accept an offer worth around £69m (€80m), the reports claims
Niguez is a very special player that would be a world class signing for Chelsea if they were to step up their chase in the transfer window to try and get some sort of transfer deal done.
Not many players want to leave Madrid, so Chelsea would have to offer something special to get a deal done, but he would be worth the money guys
But considering they are a side that can offer him top level football and more chances to win trophies, it would be a very good option for him to make a possible move to the Bridge
Chelsea have reportedly offered Inter Milan the choice of five players in a bid to land Achraf Hakimi.
Thomas Tuchel is a man that knows he needs to keep improving the side in the transfer window as he will need to add a bit more quality to the squad.
That has led to reports in the media that Chelsea are very interested in trying to secure a transfer deal for Hakimi, who is now regarded as one of the very best defenders in Seria A.
Hakimi helped Inter win the Seria A title this season, but the Italians are in debt and they must sell a number of players in the transfer window in order to balance the books, and Hakimi is a man that they will allow to leave
Chelsea are already believed to have made an initial offer worth €60million (£51.5m) plus a choice of Emerson Palmieri or Andreas Christensen, and According to Corriere dello Sport, the west London club have now offered three more players to try and tempt Inter into selling: Davide Zappacosta, Tammy Abraham and Kovacic.
The Croatian – who played for Inter before joining Real Madrid – is a real surprise given he has been a key player for Thomas Tuchel, with the coach frequently praising his midfielder.
Zappacosta, though, is surplus to requirements and Chelsea are desperate to offload him, while Abraham has fallen so far down the pecking order he did not even make the bench for the FA Cup and Champions League finals
Look, if Chelsea are that desperate to sign Hakimi then they should do all they can, but is he really worth the money that we are talking about right here?
