Father hands Solskjaer update on Manchester United’s 100-goal superstar target Mbappe that is worth £200 million
Kylian Mbappe’s father has given an update on the Paris Saint-Germain star’s future, with Manchester United just one club linked.
Since bursting onto the scene just a few seasons ago, Mbappe is already considered to be one of the very best players in the World and has countless trophies with PSG, as well as being a World Cup winner with France.
The 21-year-old has helped the French champions win eight major trophies and reach their first Champions League final, scoring 100 goals in 137 appearances across all competitions.
His performances is attracting interest from the games biggest clubs, especially as he will be out of contract at the end of next season, meaning that clubs might even be able to land him on a cheaper deal than that £200 million he is valued at.
However, PSG sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that the club have already opened talks with the talismanic forward over a possible extension.
“We talk, we talk,” Leonardo told Canal Plus. “We want to talk, I think he too wants to discuss. It’s normal. The time comes to have a clearer idea about his future.
“We are talking quietly, things are progressing well, we have taken steps forward compared to 10-15 days ago. We will continue.”
Mbappe’s father has now also offered a positive update on the contract negotiations, insisting his son is very much open to committing to fresh terms in Paris.
Quizzed on the possibility of transfer rumours becoming a distraction for the PSG striker, Mbappe Sr told Telefoot: “It cannot disturb him because he plays in a great team, and is surrounded by great players. It allows him to get closer to his dreams and his ambitions.”
The news will come as a bitter blow to United, who are reportedly a massive fans of the Frenchman and would love the chance to bring one of the very best players to Old Trafford
But he still may decide to move on sooner rather than later, so United should keep a close eye.
