Ferdinand wants attacker signed by United, defender sends messgae after signing shock deal, Midfielder hires super-agent to get Man United deal done

Former Manchester United target Toby Alderweireld has revealed he could have earned ‘a lot more’ money if he had decided to quit Tottenham.
Alderweireld has been in the transfer headlines for the past 12 months after it was revealed that he may not sign a new contract with the Spurs and stay, instead, he could have left the club and made a possible move to Old Trafford.
United were heavily linked with a transfer move to sign Alderweireld, who they had been chasing for years, as they sought to improve the back-line in order to get back challenging for more than a top four spot.
However, the 28-year-old signed a new contract in December, just a month after Mauricio Pochettino was replaced by Jose Mourinho at the club and he has now revealed that he could have got more money if he did indeed decide to leave the Spurs.
Alderweireld told the Telegraph: “Financially the club made a good effort that showed me they really wanted me so that gave me respect.
“I could maybe earn a lot more somewhere else, but then I chose loyalty, that’s worth something as well.
“I talked to my wife, we have a second kid on the way. First of all, I asked her: ‘What do you want?’
“She said she’s happy to stay, she loves it here, but that I can choose whatever I want.
“That gave me the opportunity to explore everything that I wanted.”
Jesse Lingard has hired super-agent Mino Raiola to get him a move away from Manchester United, believes Jamie O’Hara.
Lingard has really blossomed over the last few years in a United shirt and has become a real source of goals for the club, but this season he has struggled to nail down a regular place and score the type of goals he has been netting on a weekly basis.
That has led to a lot of transfer speculation that he could leave the club and seek pastures new, as he does not look like a happy man, and O’Hara has claimed that his decision to hire Raiola means that he will be seeking a move away from the club.
He explained on Monday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “There are two types of agent – there’s an agent you go with to help you out financially to get you a new contract, to build your base and your career, and then there’s an agent who you phone up and say, ‘I want to move’.
“And if you’re going with Raiola, that says to me that he’s asking ‘can you get me a move?’”
Asked about possible next destinations for Lingard, O’Hara teased: “The Championship… I’m only joking!
“If he’s hiring someone like Raiola, then go to Italy. Aaron Ramsey has done it, so why not? I think Italy would suit him.
“Jesse Lingard is a very good player, he’s athletic, he’s got loads of talent.
“But the problem he’s got at Manchester United is he’s playing in a position in a team where he doesn’t get enough of the ball because the midfielders don’t get it to him, and then when he is getting it he is not quite doing enough.”
“He still contributes to that team… but he’s got to start doing something on the pitch [to get a new contract].”
Rio Ferdinand has urged Manchester United to sign an attacker this January transfer window.
United have had some serious issues scoring goals on a regular basis this season, and that has led to a lot of speculation in the media suggesting that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will indeed move to improve his attack this month.
Both Jack Grealish and James Maddison have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the January transfer window and former star Rio Ferdinand believes Solskjaer needs a signing to boost United’s attacking creativity, especially with Paul Pogba out of the side.
‘In defence of Man United, they started this game with three attacking players [aged] 18, 20 and 22. Young, not many games between them at all,’ Ferdinand told BT Sport.
‘It’s not a concern but that’s something you can understand why they didn’t perform to the level we expect. ‘But they were solid in terms of not giving up many chances today, and you’ve got to commend them for that.
‘They need a player who is going to come in and unlock things when it’s tight like this. ‘When teams are putting a good system in front of them, two blocks there just waiting to be broken down, that’s when you need the quality.
‘That’s when you need someone in the middle of the park who can put a ball over a full-back’s head from 30, 40 yards [away] and get the winger one vs one or put him in on goal from that area.
‘At the moment in that team I don’t see someone who’s capable or actually willing to do that and take that chance.
‘And that’s why the Paul Pogba situation is so frustrating for me as a Man United fan and a Man United man.
‘You want your best players out there, Paul Pogba on fire and on song is that type of player to make that difference.’
