Fernandes issues Man United warning, Man United prefer 33-goal machine over Sancho, Solskjaer told what £80m signing would bring to Man United
Fernandes makes United claim, Man United prefer Haaland over Sancho and Solskjaer sent Rice message in Manchester United roundup…
Bruno Fernandes believes Manchester United are “building something important” after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men joined Liverpool on 33 points at the top of the League.
United have been very inconsistent this season and there was a fear at one stage that they would even fail to get back inside those top four spots by the end of the season, but that is no longer the case.
The Red Devils joined the reigning champions on 33 points after 16 matches by securing a hard-fought 2-1 win from an entertaining New Year’s Day clash with high-flying Aston Villa, and Fernandes has now opened up and issued a warning to the rest of the Premier League.
“I think we are building something important,” Fernandes said on Sky Sports. “We know that. “The most important for us is building a team. Building a group of players who take care of each other.
“Everyone wants the three points, everyone wants that win and this is what it’s about. We have to build this more and more.”
United had 19 shots on an evening that Villa managed 15, with Fernandes’ penalty the difference after Douglas Luiz was adjudged to have brought down Paul Pogba.
“I think today Paul was top,” Fernandes said. “The first goal he makes a good skill, he comes off from a player so easily. But we all know the qualities he has. I think it is not in doubt.
“I hope people is not in doubt on the qualities of Paul because we know he can play, he can help us and he can play really well, and today he did it. He was (involved) in both goals.
“In the penalty you see one of the best he can do, cover the ball and going away from his player, and I think he will give more and more and more with the confidence coming game after game.”
Tony Cascarino reckons West Ham star Declan Rice could offer Manchester United added security in midfield.
It is no secret that United are massive fans of Rice, who has developed into one of the very best players in the Premier League over the last few seasons, and there is alot of talk that they may make a move this transfer window.
Amid all the transfer speculation linking United with a move to try and sign Rice, who would cost the Red Devils around £80 million to acquire, Cascarino has opened up and told Solskjaer that the Englishman would bring a bit more protection to that back-line.
Cascarino told TalkSport: “Declan Rice can protect people.
“I learnt this early on in my career, one of the biggest skills you can have is do the simple things really well and if you can, you’ll be one hell of a player.”
Cascarino is right and if United managed to add Rice to the squad, he would bring a little more protection to the squad. But he is not a one-trick pony and has the ability to control the game from the middle of the pitch.
Manchester United are contemplating whether to make another bid for Jadon Sancho next summer with his Borussia Dortmund team-mate Erling Haaland emerging as the club’s top priority,
United have had a mixed season this year under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that has cost the club serious points, but over the last few seasons, they have started to look like a side that is more than capable of winning this Premier League title
It has been suggested that Jadon Sancho is the clubs number one transfer target and the Red Devils will reportedly make a move for the Englishman at the end of the current campaign.
However, according to the Mirror, United are contemplating whether to make another bid for Sancho next summer with his Borussia Dortmund team-mate Haaland emerging as the club’s top priority,
Haaland has been in the club’s sights for some time and his stellar form is keeping them interested in a possible future deal
Club Legend Lee Sharpe claimed United need a player of the ilk of Haaland to provide competition and inspiration for the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, he told Stadium Astro: “I think Haaland is unbelievable.
“I played with his dad at Leeds and he couldn’t score a goal if he tried and his son has come out as this prolific goalscoring machine – he’s absolutely unbelievable.
“I’d love to see him at Old Trafford but whoever signs him, if someone does at the end of this season, watch out.
“If Liverpool or Man City get him, I don’t think there is anyone to stop them going and winning the league.
“I think Martial on his day can be absolutely fantastic and then he can switch off and not look interested and stroll around the place.
“[Edinson] Cavani, years of experience and a great goalscorer, but I’m not sure he can do it week in, week out. He will be used as more of an impact sub. Rashford will chop and change from the middle to the wide position.
“I think the next thing for United is Haaland or someone like Harry Kane – a goalscoring machine because they do create so many chances.
“If you are a goalscorer, a natural goalscorer, you are going to get chances and you are going to score bagfuls at that club.”
