Chelsea news: Powerful striker ‘wants to repay the faith’ after completing summer move

David Fofana has spoken about making the decision to join Union Berlin this summer after Chelsea allowed him to move.

CHELSEA were desperate to sign a striker last January and made the decision to splash the cash and bring Fofana to the club in a deal that cost the club some serious transfer money.

He was really making a name for himself and scored a few goals for Molde before Chelsea come calling – so big things were expected of the lad when he actually joined.

However – Fofana has struggled for games and is yet to score for the Blues, which led to alot of speculation in the media that the Blues would allow him to leave on loan.

And after a few days of speculation – he made the decision to join Union Berlin until the end of the season.

WHAT HAS HE SAID –

“Union have developed extremely strongly in the last few years and it excites me a lot to be a part of this in the coming season,” said Fofana on his move to Berlin.

“The club has made a long and hard effort to find me and now I want to repay that with good performances.”

WHAT DID THE GERMANS SAY –

Union Berlin’s director of football, Oliver Ruhnert, said: “David’s pace and his flexible attacking qualities are of great interest to us. We want another dangerous player who will give our attacking game additional impetus.”

WAS IT A GOOD DECISION TO MOVE?

Fofana is obviously a very talented young man that could go on and become a decent striker – but for CHELSEA – he is not the man that will lead the attack.

This was a very good decision to make as he should get the game time he needs over the next 12 months.
