Italian informs Man United – top class target ‘expected to leave club’

Man United -linked Youssof Fofana is expected to leave Monaco at some point in the summer window.

Man United may have ended the season as FA Cup champions – but that does not hide the fact that they finished well down the Premier League table with one of the worst defences in the League.

Add that to the fact that Manchester United also failed to Create and score the goals that Erik Ten Hag needed to keep the club challenging for a place in Europe – it is time that the Red Devils invest in some more quality over the summer.

The 25-year-old Fofana joined Monaco from Strasbourg in 2020 and has been a regular over the last four seasons, racking up 175 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals.

He has also become a fixture in the France squad, winning 17 caps for Didier Deschamps’ side since making his debut in 2022 and is a player that is being lined up for a big summer move –

And reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano recently has said those close to the midfielder expect him to leave, and he could be one of the surprises of the window.

“An important player to watch in the summer transfer window is also Youssouf Fofana, the French national team midfielder for Monaco,” said Romano on his YouTube channel.

“He was on the list for Manchester United and Inter last summer, end of August, but Monaco said no to all of the approaches.

“He’s out of contract in 2025, same as Alphonso Davies, but with a difference. Youssouf Fofana is not even negotiating a new contract with Monaco and the expectation of those close to the player, and the expectation of Monaco is for Youssouf Fofana to leave the club this summer. So Youssouf Fofana can really leave the club.

“What’s going to happen? There is interest from Italy, there is interest from England, there is interest from Germany, so several clubs are keeping an eye on Fofana. There is movement on him, keep an eye on this player, it could be one of the surprises of the summer transfer window.”
