Stunning transfer claim made after Chelsea’s signing of real powerhouse

Glenn Hoddle believes David Datro Fofana is not the answer to Chelsea ’s attacking issues – the club have been told.

Chelsea have been struggling for goal all season and continue to play Kai Havertz up top – despite the fact that he is not an out-and-out striker that has the ability to score 20-goals a season.

That made the Blues make a move to sign Fofana during the January window – and spent £17 million to bring him to Stamford Bridge in order to give him a chance in the Premier League.

But Chelsea have scored just two goals in their last six games in all competitions, while Graham Potter is faced with the tough task of finding his best attacking line-up following the arrivals of Fofana, Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke in January.

When asked if Fofana will be the answer to Chelsea’s attacking problems, Glenn Hoddle told Premier League Productions: ‘No, he’s not the answer.

‘He’s not ready now. Even if he had an absolute blinder and scored two goals he wouldn’t be the answer yet, you’ve got to have a lot of longevity as a youngster to come in at that level at Chelsea.

‘He can do a job, he’d be a good substitution maybe.’

Chelsea spent so much money in the January transfer window and signed a whole bunch of players that could be very good in the future – but they did not sign that big time striker.

Fans were hoping that money would be spent on a new front-man – the club were linked to some massive signings – but in the end – Fofana was the only actual striker that arrived.

The Fulham draw showed that Graham Potter has a big job to get into the Champions League for next season – it is something that he needs to do.
