Former star tipped for Man United return – United free sign goal machine – Midfielder makes big Transfer claim
Here is a roundup of the top Manchester United news and gossip that we think you guys could have missed –
Poland international Piotr Zielinski has revealed how Bruno Fernandes tried to convince him to move to Manchester United over the course of the summer transfer window
Over the course of the summer transfer window there was alot of speculation and rumours about who Erik Ten Hag would manage to sign for Man United after a very disappointing campaign last season.
There were some big names linked, some talents tipped to make the move – and Zielinski was one of the stars that were reportedly on the shopping list of the Dutch boss for the majority of the transfer window.
A move obviously never happened in the summer but The midfielder, who shared a dressing room with Fernandes at Udinese, has claimed that he is still in touch with the Manchester United captain and that the Portuguese tried to convince him to move to Old Trafford.
Speaking on the Foot Truck YouTube channel, the midfielder said, “At one time, Bruno Fernandes wanted me to end up in Manchester. We are still in touch, we talk quite often – we played together in Udinese, and in one of the matches we practically single-handedly beat Milan. As for West Ham – it was also close, De Laurentiis was also already convinced about the offer, they threw in €35 million.
“There was already looking around for medical care for my wife and child, where I was going to live. Coach [Luciano] Spalletti took me aside once and asked me what was going on, and I said I would rather stay, fight for the championship. He said I want you to stay and that it would be the best version of Zielinski. I stayed because I didn’t really feel this London either.”
He added, “Liverpool sent a private jet to Florence for me and I flew with my agent Bartlomiej Bolek – we drove up to [Jurgen] Klopp’s house afterwards, we had a great conversation. It was the first time I had flown like that. He said that for him I was a mix of [Ilkay] Gundogan and [Cesc] Fabregas.
“We watched a Premier League match at his place on his giant TV, I had never seen anything like that either. Arsenal were closer to realisation than Barcelona
CARRICK RETURN?
Former Everton chairman Keith Wyness has tipped Manchester United to appoint ex-player Michael Carrick as their new manager if they decide to get rid of under-fire boss Erik Ten Hag
Erik Ten Hag has been at Manchester United for the last couple of seasons – has won a couple of trophies and has been fully backed in the transfer window, but it seems that his time at the club may be coming to an end.
Naturally, attentions have turned to who United may pick as their new manager should the Red Devils decide to part ways with the former Ajax boss, and Wyness believes Manchester United may decide to take a punt on Carrick, who is currently managing Middlesbrough down in the second tier of English football.
Wyness told Football Insider: ‘There are various rumours whether they will go for like a Thomas Tuchel or will it be a Michael Carrick and have more of a managerial coach type situation rather than a Tuchel-type bigger name.
‘I think they might go for the second route and try and get the Man United ethos back to what it was before with an ex-player like Carrick managing the squad.
‘He’s proven to be a very good manager, so that’s where I think they may go.
‘But no one knows at the moment which way Ratcliffe is going to jump. They are starting to reap the rewards of a very bad, difficult off-season when everybody thought Ten Hag was going to be sacked.
‘So all these sorts of things are coming home to roost. It’s a bad issue for Man United. We are already seven games into the season and it’s not looking good.’

Ten Hag has had a bad start to the season – there is much criticism about this United side – but at the end of the day he is a man that wins trophies and getting rid too early in the season could be a mistake.
But if Manchester United do – hiring Carrick will be another mistake that the Man United board do not need to make – if they do get rid of the Dutchman – they need a proven boss that has won things at the highest level and that could take the club back to the very top.
MARMOUSH CHANCE GIVEN –
Eintracht Frankfurt director of football Markus Krosche has opened the door to the potential sale of Omar Marmoush in the January transfer window, which will alert the likes of Manchester United to a possible deal.
Marmoush has six goals and three assists in just five Bundesliga games so far this term and is drawing all sorts of attention from some of the biggest teams in the Premier League, including the likes of Manchester United – who are always looking to add to their squad.
The Red Devils have one of the biggest squads in Europe – but with a number of players expected to leave in the coming windows – there will be some space for the likes of Marmoosh to come in and try to make an impact in that Erik Ten Hag side.
Now it seems that they may be able to get a deal done in the January window after Director of football Krosche admitted that the striker has a big commitment to the Bundesliga club, but also acknowledged that no player at the club is unsellable amid rumours that Marmoush is dreaming of a move to England.
Speaking to German media, Krosche said: “It is true that Omar made a very clear commitment to us in the summer. He has developed well and still has a lot of potential to develop further.
“For us, we don’t want to lose so many key players. I have to honestly say that no Eintracht player is unsellable but we want to keep the team together. I talk about Marmoush after every game. But that’s a good thing. Omar gives our game an incredible amount.”
