Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners has been backed for a big move with rumours that Chelsea are interested in a potential deal.

The Premier League season is almost up for CHELSEA – and after a disappointing campaign work can get started on signing players that could help drive the club forward next season.

Koopmeiners is having a phenomenal season with Atalanta, racking up ten goals and three assists in Serie A, and has fast become one of the most sought-after players in Italian football.

Now amid the CHELSEA speculation – Kevin Strootman has come out and backed his international team-mate to make a big move: “Koopmeiners and Zirkzee are doing very well,” Strootman told Radio TV Serie A, as transcribed by Tuttomercatoweb.

“Atalanta and Bologna are teams to be treated with great respect. I read that many top clubs would like them, they will also have their ambitions.

“They are players with extra quality and I hope they will also show it at the European Championship.

“I think after that they can choose wherever they want to go, I’m sure they are ready for a big leap.”

Koopmeiners, capped 21 times by the Netherlands national team, recently said he hoped Atalanta were able to attract a ‘good fee’ from his sale in the future.

‘I hope Atalanta gets a good fee for me because I had a wonderful time in Bergamo,’ he added.

‘I would be lying if I said i didn’t hear the news about the interest from Juventus and Premier League clubs have shown to me.’

CHELSEA NEEDS MARTINEZ –

Pundit Darren Bent has claimed that Aston Villa stopper Emi Martinez is the kind of goalkeeper that Chelsea needs.
