Legend on way back? Lampard has Chelsea message on possibly replacing Sarri at Stamford Bridge

Frank Lampard has reacted to reports he could be set to replace Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.

Sarri had a great start to life as boss of the Blues, but over the last few months he has seen performance levels drop and many of his decisions ripped by many pundits and media outlets.

And after seeking his Chelsea side get destroyed by Manchester City 6-0 at the weekend, a result which many believe could cost him his job at Stamford Bridge, there has been much speculation that Derby coach Lampard could come in until the end of the season.

Lampard is now being touted as a potential replacement for the 60-year-old after an impressive start to life as the boss of Derby in the Championship, and when he was asked about possibly replacing Sarri at Chelsea, he was quoted: ‘Bookmakers are not always right for starters. I will never get excited about that.

‘It is certainly a club I respect and a manager that I respect so it wouldn’t make me smile or anything different because my job is here.

‘I obviously follow Chelsea, have huge respect for them, and I hope to see them, put some form together and turn those results around.’

Could Lampard get the Chelsea job?

Sarri needs to be given time to change this Chelsea side into the best in the Premier League once again so all the speculation that he could leave the club will not help their results.

However, owner Roman Abramovic is very ruthless and if the Italian fails to impress in the coming weeks, then Sarri will find himself out of the job as the Russian wants success.

But Lampard is not the right man for the job and he is not ready to handle a big club in the Premier League, so if he takes it, the move could be a bad one for his career.
