Bent opens up and announces Fraser to be a great signing for Newcastle United

Darren Bent has claimed that Ryan Fraser will be a great signing for Newcastle when they wrap up a transfer deal

Once again Newcastle head into the transfer window without much budget to sign the top-class players they need to get back challenging for titles, but that has stopped Steve Bruce from trying to fresh up the squad.

And recent reports claimed that Newcastle fans are soon to welcome another summer addition, as Fraser will be signing on a free contract in the coming days.

Now that he is on the verge of clinching that move to the Toon, former Tottenham and Aston Villa striker Bent reckons the former Bournemouth star possesses the ability to succeed at St James’ Park.

Asked if he believed the signing of Fraser would be a coup, Bent told Football Insider : “Yeah, it would be and that kind of shows me that people are not sold on him like they once were.

“I mean, I thought he was nailed on to go to Liverpool, he’s still not signed anywhere so yeah, it’s a bit of a surprise about Newcastle because he is a very good player, he has got a lot of ability and on a free I thought he’d be out the door quite quickly.

“The fact that he’s not been is quite surprising to be fair. If Newcastle can get him, that is a superb bit of business to be fair, a really, really good bit of business.”

Fraser has proven himself at the top of the premier League and the fact that Newcastle could be getting him for nothing, well that is some very good business by the club as he will add both goals and assists to this Side.
