French legend tells Manchester United world class signing ‘will be a success at’ Old Trafford

Arsenal legend Robert Pires is certain fellow countryman Raphael Varane will succeed at Manchester United.

Varane is one of the most decorated Madrid players in recent times after helping the club win four Champions League trophies, three La Liga titles, three Spanish Super Cups and the Copa del Rey since arriving from Lens back in 2011.

However, despite the fact that Madrid wanted to keep hold of the Frenchman this transfer window, he could not agree a new contract and in the end, become one of the biggest players on the transfer market

United announced last week that a deal had been agreed in principle with Real Madrid that would see the France international move to Old Trafford after10 trophy-laden years in the Spanish capital

After now, Pires has opened up and told the Red Devils fans that Varane is adapt to the Premier League when he arrives at the club, Pires said: “Yes, Raphael will certainly adapt to English football.

“Surely there will be matches in which he will suffer physical clashes, but he is now a player of great experience.

“I see him well paired with [Harry] Maguire, they will form an excellent duo.

“On my part there was a bit of surprise. In my opinion, president [Florentino] Perez wants to renew his team, but replacing [Sergio] Ramos and Varane will not be easy.

“For sure, the signing of David Alaba is a good choice”

Look, we are shocked to see that Varane is leaving Madrid for United, but at the end of the day, he is a statement signing that will get many fans excited
