It has been claimed in the media that in-demand CHELSEA fc transfer target Viktor Gyokeres is possibly heading towards a move to the Premier League, when he decides to leave Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon in the coming transfer windows.

This season, he has already scored 23 goals in just 17 appearances, recently bagging a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League and continuing to make a real name for himself at the Portuguese giants.

Gyokeres now heading for exit after Amorim departure?

Gyokeres is one of a number of Sporting CP players who could leave the Portuguese club in the wake of Ruben Amorim’s departure, with Arsenal, CHELSEA and United likely to chase the former Coventry striker once again.

O Jogo reports that Gyokeres’ is “dissatisfied” with the decision of the head coach to depart for Manchester United, as the Portuguese boss was one of the main reasons that he stayed in the summer window.

Now, according to TBR, while the 26-year-old is in no hurry to pick his next club, it is becoming increasingly likely that he will move to England.

What has Gyokeres said?

Speaking to reporters, the forward said, “Going with Amorim to Man United? I don’t know, I’m here. As you can see, I enjoy it at Sporting. It’s nothing I think about. I’m sad about him leaving. We wish him all the best.”

Gyokeres Only at Sporting because of Amorim

Amorim’s agent Hasan Cetinkaya revealed in the summer that Gyokeres was only at Sporting because of Amorim, Cetinkaya admitted in an interview with A Bola: “It will be more difficult for Viktor to stay if Ruben Amorim leaves Sporting because Viktor came precisely because of Ruben.

“The day we met, I said to Ruben: ‘Here’s my boy, he came to Sporting because of you.’”

He further added: “There were eight clubs very interested in Viktor last summer [2023].

“They all paid Coventry more than Sporting, they all paid Viktor more, they all paid a higher commission to the agent.

“And I brought him to Sporting because of Ruben Amorim, because I know his work and his work with the players. I chose Ruben because he is a coach at another level.”

ENZO FERNANDES MESSAGE SENT –

Pundit Greame Souness has come out and criticized Chelsea for their transfer policy, as there have been players like Enzo Fernandez that will never live upto the expectations that the club placed on his head when the star got signed for £106 million.

Fernandez began the season as a key player under the CHELSEA boss, captaining the side as he started six of their opening seven games, but he was named among the subs in against Liverpool and Newcastle United however with his only starts in recent weeks coming in the Europa Conference League and Carabao Cup.

Since returning from a hamstring injury, Romeo Lavia has been part of that, partnering Moises Caicedo in midfield and there has been alot of transfer speculation in the media that he is one player the club may look to sell in the upcoming windows.

What has been said about Fernandez?

Graeme Souness has now taken aim at Chelsea and Fernandez –  told William Hill’s podcast, Three Up Front: “It’s still very early to pass any sort of judgement on Chelsea. With their current group of players, they have a chance of finishing in the top four, but they’re still some way off winning the Premier League or Champions League.

‘From the current squad, I think there’ll be an enormous wastage of players and a lot of them will never live up to the levels that people think they will. The most obvious one for me is someone who isn’t even in the team at the moment, Enzo Fernandez, on whom they spent £105 million. They’ve bought a load of players who won’t reach the level they would’ve hoped.”

Souness also criticised the club’s transfer policy: “I think there was a different way they could’ve done it. They just went out with a scattergun approach, buying everyone and anyone of a certain age that popped up.

‘They’re just storing up more problems for themselves further down the line. The case in point would be Raheem Sterling, who they’ve basically had to give away. They’re going to be confronted with that same situation at least another half-a-dozen times.

‘Players will not live up to the expectation, become surplus to requirements, be sat on seven-year contracts and not want to leave Chelsea unless they get offered a big golden handshake to walk out the door.

CHELSEA will get no value for them when they sell them because they’re deemed to be a failure, and they’ll have to pay them to leave. That’s not a sustainable business model.”

BADIASHILE WANTS CHELSEA STAY

CHELSEA defender Benoit Badiashile has expressed his desire to remain with the club following recent speculation linking him with a possible departure during the upcoming transfer window in January.

Badiashile was one of the players that CHELSEA spent some money on a couple of transfer windows ago to hopefully help improve that back-line – who have been conceding far too many goals over the past few seasons.

However – the move to the Premier League has not quite worked out for the defender and he has been unable to hold down a steady place in that Chelsea side over since his move to the club, and now a decision has been made on his future.

WHAT IS THE NEWS?

Foot Mercato recently claimed Chelsea are now willing to entertain offers for Benoit Badiashile, who only arrived in January of 2023 for a reported £35m, as they wants to get his massive £150k-a-week wages off the books.

There has been interest in the defender from AC Milan but it is also said that Saudi Arabian clubs could come in for him.

But the French defender has emphasized his commitment to succeeding at Stamford Bridge: “Of course, I want to stay. Chelsea is a big club. I know it’s difficult to succeed here. But I will do my best,” he said.

Look, Signing for Chelsea and then getting left out of the Champions League squad was massive – he handles it well –  and it showed that he has a great head on them young shoulders – but that should have showed him he could struggle at Stamford Bridge.

There are a number of players at Chelsea that need to get sold this January as they have really struggled to make any real sort of impact on the side over the past 12 months or so.

The Blues need to make some space and try to add players to the side that will make an immediate impact or new boss Enzo Maresca could end up failing to achieve his goals for the club this campaign

Badiashile is a solid player – but the right thing for the man is to leave the club and a switch to Seria A would be a good decision.
