Frenchman issues big Manchester United claim after £51M decision made!

Emmanuel Petit claims Manchester United dodged a bullet by not pursuing Paris Saint-Germain ace Manuel Ugarte.

Ugarte, 23, joined the French club from Sporting last summer after spending the previous two-and-a-half seasons in Portugal. He moved to Europe from South America as a teenager, months after debuting for the senior Uruguay side

Now – amid the latest reports – Petit has opened up and claimed United dodged a bullet by not pursuing Paris Saint-Germain ace Manuel Ugarte – Petit told Gambling Zone: ‘I like Manuel Ugarte but I think he’s limited.

‘I think he has the quality to play in the Premier League, but I would question if he was what Erik ten Hag is looking for in a holding midfielder.

‘He is a player with a lot of limitations with the ball and with the football that Manchester United are trying to play, with Ten Hag’s philosophy, Ugarte doesn’t have the required technical ability.

‘He’s got energy, he’s got a good mentality, and he’s a fighter on the pitch. At PSG, he was in the first team for a few weeks at the beginning of the season, but Luis Enrique realised that he couldn’t play the way he wanted him to and he was on the bench for the rest of the season.

‘[Luis] Enrique wants players that are very comfortable on the ball and can build the play, he looks for technical ability above everything else in his footballers, and Ugarte didn’t have the quality that he needed or the ability to come out with the ball and to break the first line.’
