Schalke confirm defender heading back to Arsenal, Arsenal submit Buendia offer and Zaha tells Palace he wants move in Arsenal roundup…

Long-term Arsenal target Wilfred Zaha has reportedly told Crystal Palace that he wants to leave in the transfer window.

Regarded as one of the finest wingers in the Premier League, Zaha was heavily linked with a transfer move to the Emirates just a few seasons ago, as then current boss Unai Emery, was eager to bolster his attack.

But despite all the rumours, despite all the speculation and despite the talk that Zaha was keen on a move to the Emirates, the Arsenal board made the strange decision to break the club record and bring Nicolas Pepe to the Premier League after one good season in France.

Zaha has gone on to re-establish himself in the Premier League, while Pepe has failed to impress many at the Arsenal, but there is more speculation in the media that the Gunners are still interested in a deal, and they have been handed a real boost.

According to The Times, he has decided that he wants to call time on his six years at Palace and secure the move he feels he deserves.

The report states that the winger wants to seal a move away from Palace before the squad returns for pre-season training next month.

The 28-year-old still has two years left on his contract, worth £120,000 a week, so will likely not come cheap for any club interested in acquiring his services.

Look, we are massive fans of Zaha and firmly believe that he should be playing at one of the big clubs in the Premier League, so if the Gunners are willing to pay that big money, he would be a great signing for the club.

Sead Kolasinac will NOT sign permanently for Schalke following his loan spell with the German club, and they have confirmed that he is heading back to the Arsenal

Kolasinac had seen his game time at the Emirates under Mikel Arteta dwindle down to virtually none, and he had struggled to make any sort of impact on the first team.

That opened the door for a potential move in the January window, and after a few weeks of talks, German outfit Schalke quickly swooped in and offered the defender an escape route to the Bundesliga, which he has quickly taken

Schalke held a £7.2million purchase clause in the deal and they were reportedly hoping that the left-back would stay on a more permanent basis.

Sporting director Peter Knabel has confirmed the player’s exit, and The left-back now returns to Arsenal having been part of a side relegated from the Bundesliga.

He was quoted on the SUN: “This decision hurts us both in sport and human terms.

“In view of the current budget and squad structure – all the known and publicly discussed challenges – there was no alternative.

“We have to be so honest. In view of the short preparation and the early start of the season, we cannot afford a week-long hang-up game either, but have to make decisions for Schalke 04 now.

“That’s why we decided on this clear cut.”

It is a shame that Kolasinac did not agree a deal to stay with the Germans as a return to the Emirates means he will sit on the bench, or even get relegated to that reserve squad if he cannot get a more permanent move away.

Arsenal have reportedly made a£30million bid for Norwich forward Emi Buendia.

Buendia, 24, was named the Championship Player of the Season after helping the Canaries seal an immediate return to the Premier League with 15 goals and 16 assists across an eye-catching individual campaign.

His performances for Norwich over the past 12 months has led to constant speculation that Mikel Arteta is very keen to take him to the Emirates, to give his Arsenal side a bit more creativity in that midfield area

According to The Sun, Norwich have accepted Buendia will leave this summer and want £40m for the Argentine. Arsenal just confirmed Martin Odegaard will return to Madrid following his successful loan spell at the Emirates, leaving a gap in their squad for Buendia to fill.

Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber recently claimed a club-record transfer fee is required for the midfielder: ‘If we do sell one, it’s going to be a club-record deal,’ he told BBC Sport.

‘It’s probably going to start with a number three in front of it and that will give us great opportunities to maybe make the whole squad better as well.

‘We’re really relaxed on that front.’

But Webber insists Norwich are ‘really relaxed’ over star trio Buendia, Todd Cantwell and Max Aarons, despite intense speculation they could be on their way out of Carrow Road.

‘If we do sell one, it’s going to be a club-record deal,’ he told BBC Sport.

‘It’s probably going to start with a number three in front of it and that will give us great opportunities to maybe make the whole squad better as well.

‘We’re really relaxed on that front.’
