Fan urges Newcastle to replace Bruce with Liverpool icon Gerrard or Howe

A Newcastle United fan has suggested that Steven Gerrard or Eddie Howe replace Steve Bruce as boss of the club.

Newcastle are nervously looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone after going eight matches without a win. The Magpies still hold a seven point gap between themselves and 18th placed Fulham but last Tuesday’s defeat to rock-bottom Sheffield United has invited serious pressure on to Bruce.

And that has led to alot of speculation about whom could come in and replace Bruce should he get the sack in the coming months, which is looking very likely if he cannot get the club back into the habit of winning games

BBC Radio 5Live pundits Chris Sutton and Robbie Savage have long been defenders of Steve Bruce’s reign at Newcastle United, But the pair met their match when Magpies fan Karl Hall passionately put across the case for the Toon Army’s frustrations towards the United manager, on the duo’s radio show.

“You know him as a person and nobody disrespects Steve Bruce for what he has done in football,” he told BBC Radio 5Live.

“We feel his man-management is really good and a lot of people will implore that but it only goes so far.

“In terms of this day and age and the way football has gone, he is past it unfortunately.

“I genuinely believe that.”

The Magpies fan then suggested Rangers manager Steven Gerrard or former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe as the ideal successors to replace Bruce in the St James’ Park dugout.

“It would be an unrealistic one but I would absolutely love Steven Gerrard,” he added

“Realistically, at the moment, I would give Eddie Howe a go if it was possible.
