Impressive defender announces ‘i cant wait to get started’ after OFFICIAL Chelsea deal announced!
Alfie Gilchrist has opened up and admitted that he is really looking forward to the upcoming season after joining Sheffield United from Chelsea.
Gilchrist joined the Academy as an Under-11 and moved through the age groups at Cobham with his impressive performances impressing a number of coaches at the club
The defender enjoyed a breakthrough season with his boyhood club, making 12 appearances for former boss Mauricio Pochettino’s side and he has recently been rewarded with a new contract at the club.
However – the decision was made to allow him to leave the club on loan for the season and Sheffield United were the club that made an offer and convinced Chelsea to allow Gilchrist to leave the club, and the defender is delighted with the move.
He told the club website: “I am really looking forward to it. It is a great opportunity which the club and the manager have given to me. I am just looking forward to getting started. It has always been the plan to showcase what I can do in the Premier League with the chances I’ve had, so now I want to try and do that week in, week out, here.
“This is a new challenge. I am taking myself out of my comfort zone. I’ve been there (at Chelsea) a while now, so I am ready to kick on. I came here last season for an away day, and seeing the fans and how they get behind the team, how much they love it, I was impressed.”

A move to United will give him the perfect opportunity to play for a massive club at a very good level – it could be a fantastic move for the lad.
The loan idea is a good one – he is far too good to be sitting on the CHELSEA bench of playing in the reserves at this stage of his career.
