Ranieri wants Solskjaer, N’Dombele contact, Arsenal sign stopper, Ginter wanted in Arsenal Man United Friday news and gossip
Here is the daily roundup of Arsenal and Manchester United news, gossip and transfer talk.
Claudio Ranieri believes Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer “deserves” to be appointed Manchester United’s permanent manager.
Since the sacking of Jose Mourinho a few months ago, Solskjaer has transformed the United side into one of the best in the League, and they are now back in the hunt to claim Champions League football for next season.
Solskjaer may have won nine of his ten matches as boss of United, but it is the positivity, energy and quality of the play he has brought to the United side that has impressed many and although Mauricio Pochettino is the top target, many would like to see Solskjaer get the job.
And Ranieri is the latest to come out and suggest that United should hand Solskjaer the permanent job, telling the Daily Star website: “At the moment he deserves it. He’s shown all the players are with him.
“Manchester United’s mentality has changed. Why not? I remember him as a player, against Chelsea. He was a fantastic player. His career’s open, and I wish him all the best.”
Here is what we think.
Solskjaer has done a wonderful job and if he reaches all the clubs targets by the end of the season, he should get the permanent job.
Meanwhile, United are reportedly keeping close tabs on Tanguy Ndombele and are in contact with the midfielder’s entourage.
Despite having a number of top midfielders in the squad already, it is widely expected that United will look to freshen up their squad in the summer and add a top-class holding midfielder to the squad, as the long-term replacement for Nemanja Matic.
And Ndombele has turned heads with a string of accomplished performances for Lyon this season, and a number of Europe’s elite clubs are queueing up for the 22-year-old’s signature.
Now, according to Le 10 Sport, both United are in contact with Ndombele’s representatives as they prepare to do battle for the midfielder in the summer.
However, local Rivals Manchester City are also in contact with the midfielder and they will look to challenge United for a deal.
Reports have revealed Arsenal have signed Reading youth goalkeeper James Hillson on loan.
The 18-year-old stopper has cut short a spell at Salisbury FC to head to the Emirates Stadium after impressing scouts on a number of occasions while on-loan at Salisbury and will now join up with the Gunners under-18’s.
The Gunners have one of the best academies in world football and have consistently signed some of the best in the game, but they are lacking in number between the sticks and made the move for Hillson to help fill the void.
Hillson has been replaced at Southern League Premier Division South side Salisbury by fellow Reading goalkeeper Liam Driscoll.
Salisbury boss Steve Claridge said on the club website: ”James is a great lad and has done a tremendous job for us alongside Jake Hallett, and we wish him the very best in what could be a major step forward in his career.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal are monitoring Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Matthias Ginter, according to Sky sources.
Arsenal may have one of the best attacks in the Premier League, but they have consistently been slated for the performances at the back this season, with the Gunners shipping a massive 36-goals so far this season.
And that has led to boss Unai Emery sending out his scouts to watch a number of targets ahead of the summer winow, with Ginter becoming a top transfer target for the Spanish boss, according to Sky Sources.
The 25-year-old is a Germany international with 23 caps and was on Spurs’ radar before he joined Monchengladbach from Borussia Dortmund in 2017. but his performances this season have alerted a number of top clubs to a potential summer deal.
