Gold sends clear message to Chelsea about possible £80 million signing of Rice
West Ham co-owner David Gold appears to have told Chelsea that Declan Rice is not for sale.
Chelsea have done some wonderful transfer business already this summer and have built quite a squad, but there is a big feeling that they still want to add rice to the side before the end of the transfer window
The England international Rice made his 100th league appearance for the Hammers last Saturday in their season opener against Newcastle, which they lost 2-0, but he is regarded as one of the finest holding midfielders in the game.
It is believed that Lampard would like to sign Rice and turn him back into a defender at Chelsea, especially as the young man has the ability to play football from the back, but they have a fight on their hands.
Hammers owner Gold appears to have no intention of selling the versatile Rice, who he believes is the true embodiment of the West Ham way, and has sent a clear message to Chelsea, he tweeted: “I would like to congratulate Declan on his 100th Premier League appearance for West Ham United – a magnificent achievement.
“I am very proud of him and he epitomises everything that this great football club stands for.”
Unfortunately for West Ham, Money talks and if Chelsea do come in with an offer that Rice is happy with, then he would find it very difficult to turn down an opportunity to play for a side that will challenge for trophies and be playing Champions League football.
He is far too good to be fighting relegation this season and if he wants to become a big player in the game, then he needs to play for the biggest clubs, and Chelsea are certainly that.
Money talks in football and every player has their price
