Jurgen Klopp announces £35M defender will be a Liverpool player this January
Jurgen Klopp has made clear he has no intention of letting Joe Gomez leave Liverpool this month.
Tottenham may be sitting close to the very top of the Premier League – but there has been alot of speculation in the media that Spurs are keen on adding some more defenders to the side.
The London giants have had some serious injury issues already this season and are missing their regular starters, with Emerson Royal and Ben Davies playing at centre-back for the last couple of games.
That has led to some shock speculation in the media that Tottenham are eying up a deal for Gomes, who has the ability to play anywhere along that back-line and could be considered as a fringe player at LIVERPOOL
But Klopp has played down the prospect of an exit for Gomez, and has revealed that he has no intention of letting the Englan International leaving the club this January transfer window.
He told reporters: “I think Joe is absolutely at home here so that is the No.1 reason (he is still here),”
“Joe had the problem of too many injuries in his time here – I’m not sure exactly the number but he’s been here for nine plus years if I am right – and the number of games he has had with the quality he has nothing to do with me or Brendan (Rodgers) – he was playing quite frequently when I arrived.
