Ferdinand calls for Man United to sign midfielder, United have found perfect Maguire partner? Ramos agent slams Madrid with Man United keen and Ferdinand makes Grealish claim
Ferdinand wants Grealish signed, Bailly perfect Maguire partner, Ramos agent slams Madrid and Ferdinand makes Grealish claim in Manchester United roundup…
Rio Ferdinand has called on Manchester United to go all out to sign Jack Grealish and admits he isn’t bothered if Paul Pogba departs Old Trafford in the summer.
After a stunning first season in the Premier League, Grealish was linked with all sorts of clubs over the summer transfer window, and many expected him to leave the Villians in search of superstardom.
However, he opted to stay at the club, and the decision was a right one as he has made an unbelievable start to the new season and is now one of the most creative players in the Premier League, with his performances linking him again with a big move.
United are one of the favourites to make a move for his services if he comes onto that transfer market, and amid the speculation, Red Devils icon Ferdinand – who won six Premier League titles during a glittering 12-year spell at Old Trafford – isn’t bothered either way as he hailed Aston Villa and England maestro Grealish.
“I don’t care if Pogba goes or not, Grealish is my man,” Ferdinand said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.
“I have known him since he was in his early teens. He came to my restaurant and I got him and his dad some tickets for a game.”
“He’s a great kid with a great family. He loves his football.
“What the young kids don’t see with Jack Grealish is the hunger and hard work behind closed doors – the attention to detail and the way he trains.
“He has changed his regime and looked at himself and asked what he can do better.”
Manchester United are “onto a good thing” with Eric Bailly if he can steer clear of injuries, Rio Ferdinand has announced.
The Ivory Coast international helped the Red Devils win a Europa League and League Cup double in his first season but has since been unable to hold down a regular spot in the team due to fitness issues.
United signed Harry Maguire just a few seasons ago, and although he has been brilliant for the Red Devils, there has been alot of speculation that United will need to delve into that transfer kitty to add a perfect partner for the Englishman.
However, Ferdinand thinks Bailly has all the qualities to slot in alongside Maguire in the long-term: “A big thing that has gone under the radar is Eric Bailly,” the United legend said on his YouTube channel FIVE.
“He’s added a little bit of pace and steeliness to that back four. My only issue with Eric Bailly has always been his fitness, he can never stay fit.
“He’s always injured or a game away from an injury, and that’s a problem. You don’t get that consistency of performance or get to know each other.
“I think Maguire needs pace next to him, he has other attributes but pace isn’t one of them. In the modern game, to have two centre-backs who aren’t electric quick, you’ve got a problem.
“Bailly has good attributes, he’s quick and aggressive. If he can cut the silly mistakes out which he had previously and gets away from injuries and gets a clean bill of health, I think Manchester United are onto a good thing.”
Rio Ferdinand has offered a glimpse into what kind of signing Jack Grealish would be for Manchester United.
The season has gone pretty well for Solskjaer so far as he sits in second place in the Premier League, level with leaders Liverpool, with many expecting the Red Devils to challenge for that title.
But that has not stopped speculation in the media suggesting that Solskjaer will seek to do some deals this transfer window, and try to make a move for Grealish, who has been on the radar of the club for some time now.
He has developed into one of the most creative players in the Premier League, has become a full England International, and has been compared to great Paul Gascoyne, with many believing he will be a world class player in the coming years.
And amid the speculation, Ferdinand has offered the clubs fans a glimpse into what kind of player would be signed by United, Ferdinand said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.: “I have heard from a lot of people that he is diligent in all the work he does off the pitch to get to where he is now.
“You are seeing results week in and week out.
“He is one of those players that has looked at himself in the summer and thought, ‘Yes, I’ve done well last season, I’ve signed a new deal at my boyhood club, and I am going to go again’.
“If I am a manager of a top team in England, a top three or four team, then I would not allow him to stay there, I would go and take him.”
Sergio Ramos’ agent has aimed a dig at Real Madrid for letting the club legend’s contract run down, with Manchester United keen on a deal.
Ramos has been at Madrid for well over a decade and won countless trophies on his way to becoming one of the very best defenders in the game, but his contract troubles at Madrid have now meant that he is back in the headlines.
It is believed that he cannot agree a new contract with Real and that has led to reports that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may be interested in trying to get a transfer deal done as they seek to bolster their squad just that bit more.
And amid the speculation, Ramos’ brother retweeted a comment from a journalist which criticised Real Madrid’s handling of his contract, Alfredo Duro said: “Someone will have to explain how and why we’ve got to this stage, allowing your captain, one of the legends of Real Madrid, to appear in absurd teams of players who can freely sign for another club right now.”
Ramos has made 13 appearances in La Liga this season, scoring twice. The Real Madrid icon has won 22 trophies at the club including five league titles and four Champions Leagues.
A few seasons ago, Ramos would have been a world class signing for United and one player that fans would have loved to see arrive. But now that he has gotten on a bit, they would be getting a player that is in the twilight of his career.
There is a reason why Madrid are not giving him the contract that he wants, and that is because he is not the same player he was.
He has experience, he is a winner, but what is the point in buying him for one or two seasons, as we said, he is not the same player he was.
