Man United news: Striker told to make move, United to hijack Madrid move after offer submitted?, Ole told to sign this midfielder and not Maddison,United in talks over £120 million deal?
Guys here is a roundup of Manchester United news, gossip and transfer rumours that we think you may have missed this week!
Dimitar Berbatov has urged Manchester United target Luka Jovic to make a move to the Premier League.
After a very impressive season in the Bundesliga last year, Jovic became hot property in the game with some of the biggest clubs in the game all linked with possible moves, but in the end it was Real Madrid who secured a transfer deal for his services.
The Spanish giants paid a massive £54 million for the young hitman as they firmly believed that he could become a superstar in the game, but this season has not been the best in Madrid for Jovic and he has only managed two goals for the Spaniard, leading to rumours he could leave.
And that has led to alot of speculation that he could head to the Premier League, with both Chelsea and United reportedly interested in a deal, and amid all the transfer speculation, Berbatov has urged Jovic to make the move to England: “Luka Jovic is still a really young footballer and he had a great season with Eintracht Frankfurt which earned him a move to Real Madrid, at the moment things aren’t going his way but let’s not forget that he has Karim Benzema ahead of him,” the Bulgarian told Betfair.
“For me, Benzema is one of the most underrated players in football at the moment, he scores so many goals and he often doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.
“It’s difficult for Jovic, because he has to get ahead of the Frenchman, but when Zinedine Zidane gives him another chance I hope he takes it, scores goals and shows what he was doing in Germany, if not he has two choices: be patient and work hard, or go to England or somewhere else he can play.
“Like me, he is from the Balkans and we like life a bit too much at times, so I hope that success and his move to Real Madrid hasn’t gone to his head too much, that can be dangerous and he needs to be disciplined.
“I was in his position when I was at Bayer Lerverkusen, I was the same age and ahead of me was Ulf Kirsten, who was a God at Leverkusen and one of the best German strikers ever.
“I was in that position thinking ‘why the f*** am I not playing, I deserve to play, I demand to play’.
“You think lots of stupid things because you’re young and you think you know everything but with a bit of patience, hard work and good people around you to tell you the truth about the situation, it helps. That’s one option.
“The other, if you want to play immediately, you choose to go on loan or find a club that will buy you so that you play more, if Jovic is in that place right now I can see him being useful to a number of clubs in the Premier League.”
Jonathan Greening has told Manchester United to make a move for Jack Grealish and not James Maddison.
Once again it is believed that Paul Pogba will be leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season after enduring another difficult season with the Red Devils, as his name has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons on too many occasions.
It is believed that the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in taking him away from Manchester, Meaning that ole Gunnar Solskaer may be forced to delve into his transfer kitty and bring in an adequate replacement, with Grealish and Maddison on the mind of many top Premier League sides.
Grealish has been brilliant for Villa this season and is heavily tipped to join one of the big boys in the summer, while Maddison has fast become one of the most creative players in the Premier League, helping Leicester challenge for that top four spot.
But Greening thinks United should be looking to lure the ‘gritty and determined’ Grealish away from his boyhood club rather than focusing on a deal for Maddison: ‘Over the past few months there’s been talk of Grealish coming or Maddison coming,’ Greening, told Metro.co.uk on behalf of the Grand National. ‘I actually feel I would prefer Jack Grealish.
‘Maddison has enjoyed an impressive season (Picture: NurPhoto via Getty)‘Maddison is a very good player, super technical, he can create, great passing both short and long, and great on set plays.
‘Jack Grealish, however, has that little bit of difference, he can take players on, he can drive forwards with the ball, and slide that pass through. ‘He’s got that bit of grit and determination; and doesn’t like losing, you can see that in his game.
‘Maddison is also maybe a bit too similar to Fernandes, whereas Jack Grealish will bring in something different, he can find pockets of space, he can drive at opponents and take on 2-3 players in one movement.
‘He’d be a better player at United with the current squad than Maddison would be for me.’
strong>Manchester United are prepared to hijack Real Madrid’s transfer for Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek, Spanish reports claim.
The midfielder was part of Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-finals and scored the decisive goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the Dutch side took a 1-0 lead against Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the first leg, and was a star performer in the second leg loss to the London club.
He has become one of the most coveted players in Europe after helping Ajax win the League, the Dutch Cup as well as Champions League success and there has been a lot of transfer speculation that some of Europes biggest clubs could make a move.
UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has become a fan of the exciting Dutchman after seeing him impressive performances, and with the Red Devils boss keen to improve his midfield this coming window, he is ready to battle the like of Madrid for De Beeks signature.
The LaLiga giants are said to have already agreed a deal with Van de Beek to sign him in the summer, having missed out on the 22-year-old earlier in the season, but according to the Daily Express, United bosses are plotting a bid to convince the player against moving to the Spanish capital in favour of Old Trafford.
However, it is understood United can only sign the midfielder should Real terminate their pre-agreement with Van de Beek. The Dutchman was close to making a move to the Bernabeu this season but after the Spanish giants failed to sell Gareth Bale and James Rodriquez it is claimed Van de Beek was told the transfer would have to be put on hold for a year.
Manchester United have been speaking to Borussia Dortmund since the January transfer window shut in a bid to get a deal for £120million-rated Jadon Sancho over the line.
United were expected to delve into their transfer kitty over the January window and bring in a few statement signings that would make an impact on the side, and give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side that extra push they need to get back inside the top four by the end of the season.
However, United could not get a deal done for Sancho as Borussia Dortmund did not want to sell their best player half way through the season, and in the end, United failed to make the kind of signings that they needed to improve the side enough.
But United are expected to resume their interest in the summer and will reportedly pay up to £100million for his signature, especially after seeing the young man become the youngest player in the Bundesliga to score 25-goals earlier this season.
Now Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano says Ed Woodward and co. are “confident” of wrapping up the deal for Sancho in the summer, but they have encountered a huge problem in that negotiations are stalling because of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.
“Manchester United have been in contact with Jadon Sancho’s agent for two months and are working on his contract,” Romano said during an Instagram Live video.
“The coronavirus pandemic is making it hard to communicate with Borussia Dortmund. United are confident.”
Borussia Dortmund’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke recently revealed they would consider letting him leave in the summer, Watzke told RMC Sport: “Jadon is a very, very great talent, perhaps the greatest currently in Europe among players under the age of 21.
“In my opinion, he has the potential to become one of the top two or three players in the world in the years to come. We will do our best to keep him as long as possible. We have a very good relationship with him.
“But if one day, he comes to see us and tells us that he wants to leave the club, then we will discuss it.”
Sancho is a brilliantly gifted midfielder that does have all the potential to become one of the best midfielders in the game, and for that £120 million valuation on his head, it could be a great investment from the Red Devils.
