Dortmund announce Chelsea target leaving, Havertz told to baulk up, Chelsea in talks as Bayern open door to deal, Barca make Griezmann decision, Poulson worried about defender exit
Chelsea close in on Coutinho, Poulson worried about Upamecano, Kai Havertz advised, Griezmann decision made in Chelsea news…
Dimitar Berbatov has urged Chelsea transfer target Kai Havertz to snub the Premier League for now — and bulk up.
Havertz has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League over the past few months with reports the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is wanted by the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United.
It is believed that Chelsea want the lad as they seek a long-term replacement for Eden Hazard, as they have failed to replace the Belgian since e left the club last summer, and are reportedly ready to pay that massive £87 million asking fee to get a transfer deal done.
But ex-United striker Berbatov, who left Leverkusen to join Spurs in 2006, believes Havertz is not yet tough enough to leave his native Germany.
Berbatov, 39, said on the SUN website: “I’d like to see Havertz in the Premier League but it is a bit too early for him.
“He will need a bit more muscle. We all know how defenders can squash you and smash you into pieces.
“He should stay at Leverkusen and develop even more, get that experience which will help him for when the time comes to go somewhere else.”
Bayern Munich have opened the door for Chelsea to sign Philippe Coutinho by declining to pay a £110million option to buy the Barcelona playmaker.
The football world has been stopped over the past few months because of the Coronavirus Pandemic, but that has not stopped constant speculation in the media about possible signings that could be arriving to the club, and players that could be leaving.
Cesare Azpilicueta is still in talks about a new contract at the club, while there is speculation the likes of Willian and Pedro are all set to depart the club at the end of the season as they have not been handed new contracts at Stamford Bridge.
But reports in the media over the past few days have claimed that Barcelona have offered Philippe Coutinho to the Chelsea ahead of the summer window, as the Spanish giants are keen to get rid of the Brazilian, who has not made the impact that many had hoped when he signed from Liverpool.
And reports have suggested that Chelsea have even opened up talks with the agent of Coutinho about a possible move to Stamford Bridge in the next few months.
Now they have been handed a fresh boost after Bayern came out over the past few days and told Chelsea that they will not be looking to activate the clause that is in the contract of Coutinho.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Der Spiegel: “The option expired and “we haven’t activated it.
“Now we’re going to draw up squad planning internally (for next season) and we’ll see if he still has a role to play with us or not.”
Barcelona have not intention of entertaining any approach for Chelsea transfer target Antoine Griezmann this summer.
Griezmann was one of the most om-demand players of the transfer window last summer, with a whole host of clubs linked with a possible move for the Frenchman, but in the end, it was Barcelona who completed a massive £108 million move to complete the deal.
The Frenchman has been hit and miss for the Spaniards this season as he copes with life at the Camp Nou, but now Spanish outlet AS suggest the club are looking to save money as they come under strain during these unprecedented times.
And the reports suggest Big money signing Griezmann could be put up for sale to raise capital after failing to impress Barcelona bosses since arriving from the Spanish capital in July, and managing resources is key for the club and they may look to ship former Real Sociedad star Griezmann out on loan to get him off the wage bill.
Recent reports on the Daily Express website have claimed that Barcelona will consider offers for most of their players this summer, with exception of Lionel Messi.
He has only managed to score 14 goals and provide four assists in 37 appearances in all competitions since sealing his move from Atletico Madrid, and with Barcelona ready to freshen up the side, they will do business if the price is right.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, it’s now claimed Barca are adamant he is not going anywhere and will not be looking to offload the French world cup winner when the transfer window officially opens up in the summer.
The reports ads Griezmann’s future is reportedly ‘non-negotiable’, with the 29-year-old focused on winning the Champions League with Barcelona.
If he did leave the club, the likes of Chelsea would be hoping he could rediscover the form that saw him score 133 goals in 257 appearances while at Ateltcio if he were to make a fresh start in the Premier League.
Youssef Poulson is worried about Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano leaving and signing for the likes of Chelsea
Now Look, There has been so much speculation and rumours in the media over the past few weeks about whom Frank Lampard will sign in the summer, to help improve that back-line, to improve that midfield area, and a possible add a striker to the attack.
But there has also ben constant rumours that Chelsea are interested, maybe even desperate, to sign up the impressive Upamecano, who is easily regarded as one of the finest young centre-backs in the game having helped RB become a very exciting, and entertaining to watch.
The French defender is also reportedly on the radar of Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona, and Youssef Poulsen is concerned about his superstar teammates leaving the club.
‘Every player of course has his own goals in his life and his career,’ Poulson told Stats Perform News
‘Speaking purely for the team, of course it would be ideal if the top performers stay here.
‘That way we would have better preconditions to show better performances, because it is easier to play with someone you know for four years, than with someone completely new.
‘You always need time to adapt. That’s why we have to hope that we can stay together for the next few years, because we are a very good team at the moment.
‘But in the end, everybody has to decide for himself.’
Long-term Chelsea target Mario Gotze will leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of his contract this summer, the Bundesliga club have confirmed.
Gotze was once heralded as the next big thing in football when he burst onto the scene a decade ago, and seemingly had the world at his feet when he left for Bayern Munich and helped Germany win the World Cup back in 2014.
However, the World Cup winner ha struggled to perform at the level that so many have tipped him to become and rejoined Dortmund just a few years ago in a bid to try and get his career back on track.
But Gotze has struggled for game time at Dortmund this season and has only featured in 20 games for the German side, scoring three times, and he will now be available on a free transfer.
“We will part ways with Mario Gotze this summer,” Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told Sky Germany.
“It was a mutual and respectful decision. Mario is a great man.”
“He is a very good player who comes from our own youth system,” Zorc added.
“But it is also in his spirit that he is looking for a new job. Maybe abroad.”

Look, Gotze may not be the same player he was back in 2014 and is seemingly done at the very top of the game, but if a top club takes a risk on trying to get him back to his best and offers him a contract, they could get him performing again.
He just needs a manager that believes that he can still produce at the top level, give him some confidence, something he has been lacking since he made that mega money move to Bayer.
At 27 years old he still has a good few years in him and under Frank Lampard, he could get the game time he needs to reignite his career.
He would come on a free deal, where is the risk in that?
