OFFICIAL Chelsea announcement made: Powerhouse striker has COMPLETED deadline day move!
Marc Guiu has completed a permanent transfer from Chelsea to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, bringing an end to the Spain Under-21 international’s two-year spell at Stamford Bridge.
Guiu joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer of 2024 and arrived in west London as one of European football’s highly regarded young attacking prospects. The striker was viewed as a player with significant potential and was given opportunities to develop within Chelsea’s talented squad.
During his time with the Blues, Guiu made 29 appearances across all competitions and scored eight goals. While his opportunities were sometimes limited by the intense competition for places in Chelsea’s forward line, he still produced several encouraging performances.
His most impressive spell came during Chelsea’s successful UEFA Conference League campaign. Guiu played a key role in the competition, scoring six goals in just six appearances as Chelsea eventually lifted the trophy.
The young forward was also part of the Chelsea squad that won the FIFA Club World Cup, giving him further experience of competing at the highest level on the international stage.
Guiu’s departure represents another significant change to CHELSEA’s attacking options as the club continues to reshape its squad. The Blues have invested heavily in young talent in recent years, meaning competition for first-team places has remained fierce.
For Guiu, the move to RB Leipzig provides an opportunity to take the next step in his development in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
Leipzig have established a reputation for developing young players and giving them opportunities to perform at the highest level. The Bundesliga side could therefore provide the ideal environment for Guiu to gain regular first-team football and continue developing his goalscoring ability.
The striker still has plenty of time to fulfil his considerable potential, and Chelsea’s decision to allow him to leave permanently will give him the chance to build his career elsewhere.
CHELSEA thanked Guiu for his efforts during his time at the club and wished him every success for the future.
Although his spell in London ultimately lasted only two seasons, Guiu leaves Stamford Bridge having contributed to two major trophy-winning campaigns and produced an especially memorable European campaign.
His six goals in six Conference League appearances will arguably be the standout achievement of his Chelsea career.
