Leaving Man City! Arsenal target announces ‘i may leave’ Champions in summer
Long-term Arsenal target Ilkay Gundogan has admitted that he is considering leaving Manchester City at the end of the season.
The Germany international has enjoyed constant success with the reigning Premier League Champions since making the move to England back in 2016 and has won the Premier League along with two Carabao Cups, with a another League title on the cards for this season.
However, there has been a lot of speculation in the media that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season after failing to be a regular starter in the City side under Pep Guardiola, with the Spanish having a squad that is regarded as one of the best in Europe.
And he has now admitted that the rumours are true, as he is considering leaving the club.
‘There is no decision yet, otherwise I would have signed or rejected a contract.’ Gundogan said on the Sky Sports website.
‘We’re still in talks, but I don’t feel there is much pressure. Also, we’re still competing in all the competitions and want to go as far as possible in everything.
‘One day there has to be a decision, but I’m very happy here and playing under Pep. This is something everyone has to decide for themselves. I’m 28 years old, so my next contract will maybe decide where I will be for the end of my career.
‘Maybe someone has an inner feeling to go for a new challenge or to change something. I’m always open-minded for challenges, but it’s a personal situation. Everyone has to make his own decision.
‘At the moment I try to play as good as possible and after the season we are going to sit and talk again. My main target is to go for all the competitions.’
Could Arsenal reignite their interest in the German?
Gundogan was a big Arsenal target before he signed for City and the Gunners have continued to keep a sneaky eye on their long-term transfer target, as boss Unai Emery knows he must add ‘winners’ to the squad in the summer.
And for the right price Gundogan could be a decent signing, as he has proven that he is very capable of competing in the Premier League
