Gunners star William Saliba sends Arsenal warning to Premier League about brand new signing

William Saliba has warned opposition defenders they will be SCARED facing Viktor Gyokeres this season after the former Sporting Lisbon striker made the move to ARSENAL over the weekend.

The Swedish striker has taken the No.14 shirt at the Emirates, once worn by legend Thierry Henry. Arsenal have signed Gyokeres in a deal worth £63.5million, an initial £54.8m up front, with a further £8.7m in additional clauses.

The 27-year-old has penned a five-year deal worth around £300,000-a-week. The 6ft 2in ace crashed in 97 goals and 102 appearances for Sporting Lisbon, including a stunning Champions League hat-trick against Manchester City last season.

The Gunners unveiled their new £63.5m striker in Singapore on Sunday before a 3-2 pre-season victory over Newcastle – won by a late Martin Odegaard penalty.

French centre back Saliba is glad he no longer has to battle Mikel Arteta’s latest recruit, having been impressed by the Swede’s pace and power during Arsenal’s 5-1 win at Sporting Lisbon in last season’s Champions League.

Gyokeres leaves Portugal with a record of 97 goals in 102 games in all competitions, including 39 goals in 33 games in the Portuguese top flight last term.

Saliba said: “We know how good he is, it’s scary to play against him. Of course, I’m so happy to have him in my club, and I’m sure that he will help us to win games and win trophies.

“When you face a striker who scores goals, you have to be focused! But now he’s in our team and he will score for us, so that’s good.”

IcFootballnews Says…

In that ARSENAL attack, Gyokeres could score more than 50 goals again in the coming season, he really is one of the best forwards in the world and a man that many Gunners fans are excited about.
