Former Newcastle player Geremi announces he would love to see £65 million bargain at the Magpies

Former Newcastle player Geremi would love to see Newcastle United sign Erling Haaland one day, but warned that deal won’t happen for some time yet.

Haaland is one of the most talked about, in-demand and dominant players in Europe right now and there has been a whole load of rumours suggesting that he will be playing at one of the biggest clubs in Europe at the end of the season.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, PSG, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid are just a number of clubs that have been linked with the man, who cannot stop scoring for the Bundesiga outfit.

As of June, a clause in his contract means he will be available for just £64million and it is likely to start a bidding war amongst the biggest clubs in Europe and Borussia Dortmund CEO Julian Watke has admitted the club will have to start planning for life without Haaland in the summer.

“Who would give one of the best strikers in Europe away in the winter market if they didn’t have to?’ Watzke said in an interview with Der Spiegel, as per Marca.

“He will not leave in January. Dortmund is still in three competitions and we want to compete with the best teams.

“Of course it’ll be difficult to retain him. However, we want to and we’ll try.

“Haaland will not leave in January, but in summer it will be difficult to keep him.”

Now, Geremi has admitted he would love to see Newcastle United sign Haaland one day, Speaking to Genting Casino, Geremi said: “I would love to see Haaland at Newcastle one day – he’s very young, tricky and strong.

“The question will be if he would want to go there? There’s a lot of big contenders but I don’t think they need this kind of player now, they need players with experience of staying up in the Premier League. Newcastle have time.

“If they stay up I am 100% sure they will go for the big players. When they are talking to players like Haaland, they will have to say ‘you are not going to be alone’, because they are going to sign other big names.

“Sometimes players don’t go just for the money, they go for the project and the players they are playing with. This is very important.”
