Erik Ten Hag welcomes his brand new signing to Manchester United!
Erik Ten Hag has revealed what Joshua Zirkzee will bring to Manchester United following his £36.5m move from Bologna.
Zirkzee, who featured for the Netherlands at Euro 2024, has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with the option of a further 12 months.
The 23-year-old scored 12 goals in 37 appearances for Serie A side Bologna last season and becomes Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s first signing since he became United co-owner.
And after seeing the Dutchman join the club – Ten Hag has welcomed his new signing: ‘He is a player who can link up the game,’ Ten Hag said of his new signing. ‘He can be available, hold up the ball, have good ideas, be creative, can dribble, [make] combinations
‘So that’s a different type and always what we are looking for, so it gives us more options tactically, which is good because, especially up front, we have many players who can play very direct and they can take a big benefit from his skills.’

There have been some big players linked with a move to Manchester United this summer – so players that may be able to make more of an impact than Zirkzee.
The lad is very talented and could score the odd goal or two – but at the end of the day – he is not really the kind of signing that will get the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool or even Aston Villa worried in that chase for a Champions League place.
He does have potential to develop into that kind of player – and many fans are hoping that he will add more goals to the side immediately – but Rasmus Hoijlund is a much better option for Manchester United than Zirkzee.
But it will be interesting to see how he adapts to life in the Premier League.
