Man United told record-breaking fee and Premier League star CAN JOIN!
Newcastle United have reportedly placed a record-breaking valuation on Lewis Hall as Manchester United continue to monitor the highly rated left-back ahead of the transfer deadline.
According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle’s stance is so firm that any club hoping to prise Hall away from St James’ Park would need to offer more than £68 million — the current world-record fee paid for a left-back. The reported valuation would make the 21-year-old the most expensive player in his position in football history if a deal were completed at that level.
Manchester United have been most strongly linked with Hall as they look to strengthen the left side of their defence. Reports suggest the Newcastle defender has emerged as their preferred target, with United continuing to assess their options despite the enormous financial obstacle standing in the way of a potential transfer.
Newcastle, however, are reportedly under no pressure to sell. Hall remains under contract and is viewed as an important part of the club’s future, while new head coach Matthias Jaissle is understood to be determined to retain the defender. The Magpies have previously made clear that they do not actively want to entertain offers, with the latest reports suggesting that only a world-record proposal would force them to seriously consider a sale.
The £68 million benchmark relates to Bayern Munich’s 2019 transfer for Lucas Hernández, meaning United would have to surpass that figure simply to meet Newcastle’s reported threshold. TEAMtalk has suggested that a bid in the region of £70 million is unlikely, although a formal approach has not been completely ruled out before the window closes.
The staggering valuation could therefore force Manchester United to consider alternative targets. Reports have linked the Old Trafford club with Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde, RB Leipzig’s David Raum, Fulham’s Antonee Robinson, Bournemouth’s Adrien Truffert and Racing Santander youngster Jorge Salinas as they continue their search for a specialist left-back.
Hall’s rapid development has made him one of the Premier League’s most highly regarded young defenders. Having established himself at Newcastle after arriving from Chelsea, his combination of technical ability, athleticism and attacking potential has attracted attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
For Manchester United, the appeal is clear. Hall could provide both immediate competition and a long-term solution on the left side of the defence. Yet Newcastle’s reported demands underline just how difficult a deal would be.
