Hammers respond to Rice rumours after Chelsea make reported £50 million transfer offer
West Ham United insist they have not received a bid from Chelsea for Declan Rice and laughed off any suggestion the midfielder would leave.
Chelsea may have a very exciting attack that can create and score goals on a regular basis, but that back-line and stopper area of the pitch looks very dodgy and cost Chelsea alot of points in the Premier League.
Their defensive issues were the main reason why they failed to beat Arsenal in the FA Cup at the weekend, and now that the transfer window is opened up, Lampard has admitted that he is keen to improve the defensive side of the squad.
West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is a player that has been heavily linked with a move to the Bridge, especially as he is eager to make that step up in the game and avoid another relegation battle next season with the Hammers.
Recent reports have suggested that Chelsea have not made their first move to try and get a deal done and have reportedly offered the Hammers around £50 million to lure him to the Bridge.
However, West Ham have rebuffed the claims with Sky Sports reporting that the Hammers want Rice to stay at the club for ‘years to come’, and have dismissed talk of a bid and in any case say they would not accept any bid in the region of £50m.
Look, right now Rice is keeping it very professional and enjoying his holidays, but if he asks for the possible move to Chelsea, then it will surely be very hard for West Ham to convince the gifted midfielder not to make a move.
If he has any ambitions to be a top player, then Chelsea is a move that he should not be turning down.
