German makes decision about joining Chelsea after official announcement

Former Bayern Munich and Germany manager Hansi Flick is not interested in taking over the reins from Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea.

After months and months of speculation and rumours – Chelsea and Pochettino have finally parted ways after the former Tottenham boss failed to achieve the clubs targets for the season.

There has been some talk that Pochettino was also not happy with the fact that he would have no say in the type of players that would be sold in the coming transfer window, and the players that could be signed.

Flick has also been mooted as a potential replacement for Pochettino but, according to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, the German has no interest in filling the vacant position in west London.

Plettenberg claims he has heard directly from Flick’s inner circle that the manager is ‘focused on other projects’, with the 59-year-old linked with a possible return to Bayern Munich in recent weeks.

He has also been named as a leading contender to take charge at both Barcelona and Manchester United

Pochettino, meanwhile, is said to be keen to make an immediate return to management and Manchester United are being tipped as a potential destination for the manager should Erik ten Hag be relieved of his duties.

In a brief statement on Chelsea’s official website, Pochettino said: ‘Thank you to the CHELSEA ownership group and sporting directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history.

‘The club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.’
