Summer Arsenal signing make a promise to boss Mikel Arteta

Kai Havertz has lauded Mikel Arteta and wants to repay him for the faith and trust the Arsenal manager has put in him.

Havertz spent three years at Stamford Bridge, scoring 32 goals in 139 appearances, including the winner in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City.

However – Havertz attracted criticism during his spell at Chelsea as he largely underwhelmed following a £71m move from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020, and was constantly ripped for his lack of effort and quality in front of goal.

He completed his move to ARSENAL a few weeks ago, and has been quite impressive in his new role in that Arsenal team.

The 24-year-old has thrived in the position in pre-season, scoring in friendly wins over Barcelona and the MLS All-Stars, and now he has come out and revealed that he is hoping to repay the fait that Arteta has shown in him.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID – 

‘I think he was giving me this message [of support] from the first second when I spoke to him,’ Havertz told Sky Sports about life under Arsenal boss Arteta.

‘The first time, I felt the support straight away. And I think this is very important for me as a player. He just gives the trust to me and I hopefully can give it back.’

WILL HAVERTZ BE A FLOP AT ARSENAL ?

He has come for a massive amount – is one of the highest paid players in the Premier League now and will have the pressure of fighting for his place rather than walking straight into the side.

Nobody can predict how good he will be – but if Arsenal are signing the player that scored goals for fun and not the one that managed just seven last year – then he will be a very good buy.
