£80 million rated Havertz will be open to joining Chelsea this summer even if no Champions League football
Kai Havertz will reportedly remain open to joining Chelsea even if they miss out on a Champions League spot.
Regarded as one of the finest talents in the game right now, there has been alot of speculation in the media that Chelsea are keen to try and get him signed up in a deal worth around £80 million in the transfer window.
With Pedro leaving the club at the end of the season, and the future of Willian not yet sorted out, Frank Lampard knows that he needs to replace the duo, and the versatility of Havertz means that he could cover both players if they manage to secure a deal.
However, there had been recent reports suggesting that Havertz would only look to join a club that is competing in the Champions League next season, and with no guarantee Chelsea would get back in, their chase looked alot tougher.
BBC Sport claims the Bayer Leverkusen star, 21, does not consider participation in next season’s competition essential to deciding his next step.
Instead, Havertz is said to prefer joining a club based on their long-term plans for the future, with Champions League football next term purely an added bonus, and That’s a huge boost for Frank Lampard, who is desperate to add Havertz to his ranks this summer.
Look, there will be alot more said about the future of Havertz over the next few months as Chelsea will be linked on a daily basis, but they are not the only club interested in trying to get a possible transfer deal done.
They will have to fend off the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, meaning that they will have to move quickly if they are to secure a deal for one of the players that is tipped to become one of the best in world football.
