Rice message sent, Chelsea close to Havertz deal, martinez move to be made? Willian contract breakthrough in Chelsea news roundup…

Chelsea are increasingly confident of agreeing a new contract with Willian by the end of the week, according to reports.

Willian has been in the headlines for the last few months as there has been constant reports suggesting that he wants to stay at Chelsea this summer, but is not being offered the three-year deal that he wants.

It is understood that the Blues are only willing to offer an extra two years to the Brazilian winger – which has caused for much frustration to the fans, club and the player himself that clearly wants to stay.

However, Sky Sports now report that Chelsea have made a breakthrough in negotiations and are hopeful that a deal could be finalised by the end of the week as Frank Lampard is keen to keep hold of the Brazilian,

Interest from the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United have stepped up the Chelsea negotiations in order to keep the midfielder, as Lampard knows that Willian is going to be a big part of the side for the next few seasons.

And amid all the speculation, Greame Souness reckons the Blues would regret letting Willian slip through the cracks and believes that they should offer him the three-year contract that he currently desires.

He told Sky Sports: “I think he’s their best player. He wants a three-year [deal], they’ve offered two. I’d be giving it to him

“You watch him play, he doesn’t look like a player to me whose legs are going anytime soon and he’s got great qualities.

“So I would be bending over backwards to keep him at the football club.”

David Moyes expects Chelsea Declan Rice to play for West Ham next season, warning: Only a steel van of cold, hard cash would tempt us.

Rice has been an outstanding player for the Hammers this season and is easily now one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League, with Chelsea boss Frank Lampard reportedly ready to pay big money to try and get a deal done.

There is no doubt that Lampard is seeking to build a side that is capable of challenging for that Premier League title next season, and the versatility that Rice has been able to show this season, means that he will be hot property in the transfer window.

That means that the The Hammers’ owners will have to pay hardball with the likes of Chelsea, especially as David Moyes has no intention of letting his very best player leave the club in the transfer window

Moyes said on Sky Sports: “Declan is under contract.

“He goes on holidays now as far as I know. Hopefully he is selected for England.

“He will be back in pre-season with us in three weeks. That’s as much as I can tell you.

“Rightly so Declan should have attention because he’s such a good player.

“But he’s not going anywhere unless you get one of those steel vans that have the cash in it. You better bring one of them!”

Chelsea have opened talks with Bayer Leverkusen regarding Kai Havertz after agreeing personal terms with the wonderkid.

The Premier League season is over and Chelsea have managed to secure themselves a Champions League spot for next season, meaning that Frank Lampard will be able to get the players that he seemingly desires.

And top of that shopping list of Havertz, who is easily one of the very best players in the Bundesliga and the man that could come in and help take this Chelsea attack to another level next season.

Recent reports have claimed The German playmaker, 21, has to have agreed to a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge with the deal now “close”.

Chelsea have now bid a rumoured £73million plus add-ons in order to convince the Bundesliga side to sell their prized asset, and European transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed Havertz is now simply “waiting” for the two clubs to negotiate a fee…

Romano tweeted: “Official talks started between Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen for Havertz.

“Chelsea want to complete the deal soon but would pay £73m fee only including add ons.

“Talks on to find an agreement. Personal terms agreed weeks ago. Kai is waiting.”

Emiliano Martinez could emerge as a target for Chelsea, says Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is reportedly keen to find an adequate goalkeeper ahead of next season after falling out of faith in the ability of Kepa, who has not been that impressive this season for Chelsea.

And Martinez, who has been very impressive since the injury to Bernd Leno, will not want to go back to being a back-up to the German next season, which may happen as Leno is easily the clubs number one stopper.

He has helped the Gunners into the FA Cup final and to six wins in the English top-flight, with his stock rising to the point that he may now be offered a regular role away from Emirates Stadium.

And Wright fears that will be the case, with the Arsenal legend thinking Chelsea will be casting admiring glances in the direction

“When you go to a No.2, the first thing you do is worry because you think: ‘Has he had enough games? Will he be able to deal with the pressure?’,” Wright said on the Kelly & Wrighty Show.

“Obviously there’s no fans there, but everybody spoke about Emi and how good he is, but I didn’t realise how good he was because I didn’t see enough of him.

“I saw him in some cup games but he’s commanding, he makes great saves, he’s good on the ground, he’s got everything for a No.2.

“The thing that frightens me now with him is that when Bernd Leno does come back and he is fit, why would he want to continue as a No.2 when he’s played to this level being a No.1? He will surely want to go and be a No 1 now.”
