Jose Enrique reckons Man Utd’s Dean Henderson is a “good choice” for Newcastle – as he looks set to seal a move to the Toon

Henderson was expected to take over as the Red Devils’ number one following an impressive two-year loan stint at Sheffield United between 2018 and 2020, but that has not happened.

Such has been the impressive nature of David de Gea’s form that Henderson has been limited to just 29 appearance since – only three of them in this campaign – And he is not happy with the kind of game time that he has been receiving

The 25-year-old still has three years to run on his current contract, but Man United have told the stopper that they won’t stand in his way if a suitable offer comes in – and recent reports suggested that Newcastle made their moves to try and get a deal done

Now – amid all the speculation – Enrique has opened up and admitted that he will be a very good fit for Newcastle – Enrique told Genting Casino: I would definitely sign Dean Henderson. I’ve said I like him a lot in the past. He’s a great goalkeeper.

“Dubravka is doing well but Henderson would be a good fit in the long run and Newcastle’s back-ups aren’t good enough at the moment.

“Henderson will be looking for a move too as with the form De Gea is in now, he’s not going to play.”
