Thierry Henry ‘impressed’ with potential Arsenal signing this January

Thierry Henry has hailed Arsenal transfer target Dominic Solanke amid his impressive performances this season.

Mikel Arteta has seen his side struggle at times this season, as Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus are not players that can score 20-30 goals a season, somthing that is needed at the Emirates.

Solanke started his professional career at Chelsea after spending a decade in the academy at Stamford Bridge. He was a prolific goalscorer at youth level but was rarely given the chance for the first team.

After an unsuccessful spell at Liverpool, he has found a home at Bournemouth and is finally proving he can score goals in the Premier League. He is enjoying his best campaign in front of goal in the top flight, with 12 strikes in 18 appearances.

And following ARSENAL’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham on Thursday night, in which Henry called out struggling forward Gabriel Jesus, the Arsenal legend spoke in glowing terms about Solanke, who has been capped once by England.

Asked to name a player who has impressed him in the Premier League this season, Henry told Amazon Prime: ‘Dominic Solanke, the way he is playing at Bournemouth.

‘Not only him, the team is doing extremely well, but we have been waiting for him to be that player.

‘It guess it was a bit too much when he was younger. But what he is doing right now is brilliant.

I am happy for him because he did struggle for a little bit. Now he is looking good.’

If ARSENAL could get Solanke for a fee of around £30 million, he could be a solid addition to the side – but we are not sure that he would be able to handle leading that Premier League chasing Arsenal side.
