Blues legend ‘really impressed’ with new Chelsea signing after Potter’s big decision
Glenn Hoddle has admitted he was impressed by Benoit Badiashile’s performance against Fulham and praised the 21-year-old’s positive reaction after being left out of Chelsea ’s Champions League squad.
Badiashile was one of the players that Chelsea spent some money on in the January transfer window to hopefully help improve that back-line – who have been conceding far too many goals this season.
However – with the Blues squad so massive now after all the transfer arrivals – Badiashile was one of the shock names that was left out of the Champions League sides – alongside Team-mate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – who is not happy.
But Badiashile put in a solid performances against Fulham this weeke, despite the news, and Hoddle has now admitted that he has been left impressed by the gifted young man, he said: ‘[Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang’s a strange one, it’s not really Graham’s fault in many ways, [Thomas] Tuchel bought him, Tuchel had got the best out of Aubameyang at Dortmund and then suddenly the manager’s gone.
‘For me, the centre-back Badiashile was left out, he could’ve thrown his toys out of the window there but he had a really solid game. He looks a really good prospect, now he’s not in the Champions League, he’s played tonight, showed a great attitude.
‘He [Potter] has got that problem. It’s not the player’s fault, it’s not the manager’s fault, he can only choose that amount, the new players they’ve spent money on they’re obviously going to be in the Champions League.
‘The only one [you leave out], I don’t know, perhaps leave [Kalidou] Koulibaly out maybe, I don’t know, it’s a difficult one for him with those rules. Maybe the owners didn’t really think about that.’
