The big Don reacts to news that Liverpool have agreed summer deal

Don Hutchison has reacted to the news that Jordan Henderson is leaving Liverpool and making the move to Saudi Arabia.

Henderson has been the ultimate professional during his time at Liverpool and has been a player that Jurgen Klopp can always rely on to come onto that pitch and get control of the game – his leadership quality is world class.

However – The LIVERPOOL captain is set to reunite with manager Steven Gerrard in the Middle East and is set to earn a staggering £700,000 per week in his new contract across two years, amounting to £82m in total.

But ahead of his imminent move from the club, Hutchison has hit out at the Liverpool captain for making the decision to leave the Reds and join Gerrard over in Saudi Arabia.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –

“It’s some statement from the Saudis to be taking Liverpool’s captain,” said Don Hutchison.

“I mean that’s a proper statement signing, along with all the other signings that they have made.

“There is no loyalty in football – there were no guarantees that Jordan Henderson would start for Liverpool this season. He might have been sitting on the bench all season or partly used.

“£12 million seems very cheap for him, by the way, if that’s the fee. They are going to miss him, in terms of his character, his leadership and captaincy inside the dressing room, as well as being on the pitch.

“He has had a conversation with Jurgen Klopp and it was probably Klopp not being able to guarantee him a place.”

CAN YOU BLAME HENDERSON?

Look, at the end of the day he has given everything for LIVERPOOL – he has played many games and won countless trophies – so taking that massive £700k-a-week wage is a no-brainer.

It is a nice little end of career payment and he will get to experience a different culture
