Alan Hutton is “surprised” Chelsea haven’t met Mason Mount’s contract demands, as he closes in on a possible Stamford Bridge exit.

Mount’s current stint with the Blues ends in 2024 and there has been some speculation in the media that the club are having complications on agreeing a new contract with the midfielder.

According to recent reports, the Blues offered a new deal to Mount, which the midfielder rejected because the wages offered to him were lower as compared to some of the new recruits.

It has been claimed that the midfielder wants to be put on the kind of wages that the likes of Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva and Kalidou Koulibaly are all reportedly on at the club, but Chelsea do not want to pay him such an amount of cash.

And according to reports on the Football Inisider website, Chelsea have now made the decision to allow Mount, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Conor Gallagher all to leave at the end of the season.

When asked if Mount could quit at the end of the season, Hutton told Football Insider:

“Possibly if the contract is not resolved.

“He is in to the back end of his contract so the fee will be a lot lower. I am surprised that Chelsea are not offering him what he wants to get the value up, even if they wanted to get rid of him.

“Where he stands at the moment, he probably sees all these players coming in on very good contracts, even the likes of Reece James, homegrown players who have signed unbelievable contracts. He feels he is part of that.

“I think his form has dipped so for him it is about concentrating and getting his head down and getting back to the player that we all know that he is.“
