Will Phillips leave Leeds?

Alan Hutton has suggested Kalvin Phillips could quit Man City next season – with West Ham keen on a possible deal.

West Ham have a very good squad that is simply not putting in good enough performances this season – and that is why they are in a shock relegation battle.

That has led to speculation in the media that the Hammers are lining up a number of possible January signings – and Phillips is the latest name to be linked with a move to London Stadium.

At Leeds – Phillips established himself as one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League – and that prompted Man City boss Pep Guardiola to take him to the Etihad.

However – the move has not quite worked out and he has struggled to make an impact -with a number of injuries keeping him on the sidelines more often that he would have hoped for.

He told Footballinsider:

I think he will want to stay within himself.

Man City is a big club, you are going to go for all the trophies. It has not quite worked out for him through injury. The overweight thing did not help him either, especially when the fans are singing it at him.

It is not ideal but when he signed I did not think he was going to play week in week out. I think he maybe knew that. Probably in the next season or so if he is still not playing I think he will maybe look to get out.

West Ham, even though they are struggling at this moment in time, are a good club.
