Incoming Liverpool signing worth over £100M gets slammed for making Anfield choice

Ex-Newcastle defender Stuart Pearce has opened up and slammed Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak for his decision to leave the Toon and make the move to Premier League Champions LIVERPOOL.

Newcastle made it clear earlier in the transfer window Isak was not for sale this week when Liverpool stepped up their interest in the striker. The Magpies value Isak, who scored 23 Premier League goals last season, at £150m at least.

But a few days ago came the news that he had been left out of the squad for Newcastle’s pre-season tour – and then that he had told the club he wanted to explore his options in the transfer window.

With a £150million price tag, there aren’t too many options – especially when you discount Saudi Arabia, but reports have claimed that Liverpool were still interested and were ready to make their move to land one of the clubs long-term targets.

Now – according to Sky Sports Switzerland, the Reds will submit their first formal bid to Newcastle after getting the green light from Isak, as the big striker has reportedly already agreed personal terms over a move to Anfield.

Speaking in association with Bresbet, told GOAL when asked why an ambitious project on Tyneside  is struggling to retain players of Isak’s ilk: “Only the players can answer that. Looking at it from a player’s point of view and my history as a player, sometimes down the line you have got to stay and play football where you are happy. Isak looks to me as though he is happy at Newcastle.

“They are in European competition, the club have won their first trophy for a long time, why wouldn’t you stay would be the question. I’m sure financially they can offer as good as anyone and he can get paid 150, 250, 300,000 pounds a week.

‘To me there is very little in that if he is going to get paid another 50,000 pounds on top of that. It seems bizarre to me.

“I think it will resolve itself. I don’t think Newcastle will part company with Isak – certainly not this season. The trouble is, if you are not LIVERPOOL and not Manchester City, you have got a fight on to keep players. That is just the nature of the game.”
