Should Man United sign Madrid exiting superstar? Agent opens up about reported defender agreement, Januzaj sends Man United message
Should Man United sign Isco, Januzaj sends United message and Botman agents opens up about agreement in Manchester United roundup…
Sevilla director of football Monchi says out-of-favour Real Madrid midfielder and long-term Manchester United target Isco wants to leave the Liga giants, but should United make a move?
Isco has been a name that has constantly been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past three years, but despite all the speculation and despite all the rumours, the Red Devils have never been able to get a transfer deal done
But Isco has rarely featured under Zinedine Zidane this season and that has led to him once again being frustrated at the lack of game time he has been receiving, and he is now fed up and wants to leave the Spanish giants.
Monchi said Isco’s name had come up in discussions with Sevilla club president Jose Castro about possible transfer targets, but that they had no real interest in bringing him in, opening the door for Arsenal to get a deal done
Monchi told Estadio Deportivo: “The conversation lasted approximately 15 or 20 seconds. It is news that has come out, he asked me and I said no, that was all the interest in Isco.
“We do not live in a basement and read things, but I talk to the president or vice-president on a day-to-day basis, and there are things that jump out and the president asks me if that is true and I say ‘Yes, yes, I have not told you’, but it is not the case with Isco.
“It is a rumour, a logical rumour, because he wants to leave and here is a coach with who he played at a high level, but there is absolutely nothing, not a movement.”
Asked if Sevilla might pursue Isco in the summer, Monchi said: “Fortunately in that position we have very interesting players. It is one of the positions on the pitch about which we can be calmer. In the positions that Isco can play, we have players here that will give us good performances.”
United should make a move if there is a chance to get a deal done guys
The agent of Lille centre-back Sven Botman has denied that the club have reached an agreement to sell him.
Manchester United have been associated with Botman over the past couple of transfer window, as The Old Trafford side have long had problems finding a reliable centre-back combination and it is thought that they are likely suitors for the young Dutchman, who has been capped as high as Under-20 level.
Reports emanating from Canal+ in France had suggested that a big European club had agreed to buy the 21-year-old in the summer, with a fee in the region of €45 million (£39m/$55m) suggested.
However, his agent has come out to try and play down such speculation, Speaking to Voetbalzone, Nikkie Bruinenberg, the agent of Botman, simply dismissed the report as “fake news”, indicating that no such agreement has been struck.
“Botman is under contract with Lille until 2025, having only joined the club last summer as a replacement for Gabriel, who was transferred to Arsenal.
“With Lille, he has developed rapidly into an important first-team player and has regularly partnered Jose Fonte at the heart of the defence. Indeed, in 30 matches for LOSC this season, he has not committed an error that has led to a chance, let alone a goal. Such consistency and reliability has led him to be regarded as one of the best central defenders in Ligue 1.”
Botman is attracting all sorts of interest and it is easy to see just why, but is he really the player that would come in and help sort out those defensive issues at Old Trafford?
Real Sociedad star Adnan Januzaj has insisted that he’s looking forward to his upcoming reunion with Manchester United,
The Belgian winger called time on his six-year spell at Old Trafford in 2017 amid a lack of regular minutes, but his Sociedad side are set to meet United in the Europa League knockout stages on Thursday night, with Januzaj due to come up against the club where he began his professional career.
The ex-United star has contributed 16 goals and 16 assists to the club’s cause from 109 appearances, helping them emerge as genuine contenders for a top-four finish in La Liga.
But the talented winger has now come out and announced that he has nothing to prove against his Old Club, Januzaj told ESPN ahead of the round of 32 first-leg tie: “I don’t have to prove to anyone how good I am, I just have to believe in myself, get my games and be happy.
“I’m really happy to go back there, the club I love. Once I’m on the pitch, there’s going to be no friends because obviously, I’m playing for another club now and also I want to win the game.
“I want to go through with my team. I’m really happy to go back there to see the people but once I’m on the pitch there will be no friends.”
Januzaj could have been something special if he was given the chance to shine at United, but he has done well for himself over at Sociedad and it will be interesting to see the type of performance he puts in against his old club.
Surely he will be looking to impress right?
