Italian makes huge Saliba claim – Statement released after striker signs up – £150k-a-week star makes Arsenal decision

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip from icfootballnews that we think you guys could have missed today…

Aston Villa star Jhon Duran has put pen to paper on a new contract that will now keep him at the club until 2030, meaning that ARSENAL will not be able to make a move for the player in the coming windows

Duran was heavily linked with a move to ARSENAL for most of the summer and it seemed that the striker was very much open to the idea of leaving Villa away from Unai Emery’s side – but in the end and despite all the rumours – a move never happened.

However – Duran has started this season in exciting fashion and there is all sorts of speculation and rumours that he could be a player that the likes of Arsenal make a move for in the January window, but they will now have to pay.

However – Villa have announced that the talented young striker has now agreed a new contract at the club that will keep him where he is until at least the summer of 2030.

The official statement from the club read, “Aston Villa is delighted to announce that Jhon Durán has signed a new contract with the club until 2030. The 20-year-old has been in sparkling form at the start of this season, scoring six times, including the only goal on Wednesday night which sealed a famous win over German giants, Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

“He has also contributed match-winning goals against West Ham, Leicester and Everton, the latter of which was a spectacular long-range strike. A Colombian international, Durán joined Villa in January 2023 from MLS side, Chicago Fire.”

Duran is making a real name for himself and to be honest – could be ready for a bigger move in the next few seasons – but staying where he is is probably the best thing for the man as he is enjoying his football.

TIERNEY DECISION MADE –

It has again been claimed that Arsenal star Kieran Tierney has accepted that he is not part of the plans under Mikel Arteta and is trying to get himself fit for a move away in the January window.

After months and months and months of speculation, ARSENAL allowed Tierney to leave for Real Sociedad last summer after making the decision that he would not be part of the plans this coming season.

The Scottish International had a decent time over in La Liga – but he failed to get a permanent move to the Spaniards and there has been alot of speculation in the media about his long-term future at the Emirates.

Injury put an end to any chances of a move towards the back end of the transfer window and and the focus now is on the left-back getting himself back fully fit ahead of the January window.

He’s not in Mikel Arteta’s plans anymore. That’s been clear for a long time and Tierney accepts that

Tierney is a solid defender and a player could add some depth to that ARSENAL side if needed – but there will surely be a few clubs interested in him over the January window and the Gunners could use the money to help improve the side in other areas.

So if the reports are true and he is now looking to finally leave the club – it will be the very best decision for his career because he seems to be going backwards staying at the club – especially with all the quality that Mikel Arteta has in his squad right now.

But it will be interesting to see just where the man ends up.

SALIBA TRANSFER MESSAGE SENT –

Italian Journalist Romano has addressed the rumours surrounding William Saliba’s future, which particularly sprung into some uncertainty following Antonio Rudiger’s interview.

The Frenchman has established himself as a key player and regular under manager Mikel Arteta over the last two campaigns, playing a crucial role in their last two campaigns as they finished second behind Manchester City in the Premier League table.

He is one of the big reasons why ARSENAL have been so defensively good over the past few seasons, and his partnership with Gabriel is arguably one of the very best in the Premier League and maybe even the Champions League.

There was some speculation that both Real Madrid and PSG were keen on trying to sign the Frenchman in the January window, but Arsenal do not want him to leave, and the player himself has no desire to depart the Emirates right now.

Romano wrote: “I can say there is absolutely nothing going on with Saliba and any other club. Back in the summer we had rumours about Saliba and PSG, and about Spanish clubs, but the reality is that he never considered leaving Arsenal. He extended his contract in summer 2023, and he remains very happy with life at the club, it’s fantastic for him there.

“Saliba can see the ambition under manager Mikel Arteta, and he can see how important he is in the project.

“It’s obvious that Saliba would have admirers from other big players as he’s one of the best centre-backs in the world, but it’s a compliment for the player, but nothing more than that. Saliba is very happy at Arsenal and they are very happy with him, so the intention is to continue together for the long term.”

We are sure that Madrid will try and tempt ARSENAL into selling Saliba one day and the defender may even be interested in making that move to La Liga – but for now – he is happy and is not leaving the club.

But if Madrid are looking for a long-term replacement for Antonio Rudiger – there is not many better out there that Saliba that is for sure.
