Arne Slot OFFICIALLY confirms midfielder will be a Liverpool player this deadline day
After impressing against PSV Eindhoven last week, Arne Slot insisted Liverpool will reject any offers for James McConnell and the midfielder will stay at Anfield for the second half of the season.
LIVERPOOL have one of the best starts to a season in recent memory and have one of the best squads, so this transfer window has been very quiet for the Reds fans, apart from players being linked with moves away from Anfield.
McConnell was one of the players that was being linked with a loan move away from the club, but he will remain with the Reds for the remainder of the season to play a part in Slot’s senior squad, with the Dutch manager set to keep his work on retaining the midfielder.
Slot said: “There’s always a chance in life. And at the moment we have most of our players fit so we will have this discussion tomorrow I think between me and Richard about these players. But there’s definitely one that will not go out on loan: James McConnell.
“I liked him a lot today. Maybe the end result today would be good for him to go and play [elsewhere] but he is a player who hasn’t played a lot in the last six or seven months as he was injured for a while. He impressed me a lot today.
“He is competitive in the training sessions we had, he is always very competitive. I’m not surprised [by how he played], but you always wonder how you will react at this level. James plays and is competitive. He definitely deserves credit for his performance today.”

McConnell is part of a side that is competing for all the biggest titles, so will have some minutes to play this season, if Slot believes in him, that will surely give him confidence that he can add to the side in the coming seasons.
