Lamps to open talks with World Cup winning defender about FREE MOVE, while Chelsea fans will love James message about “unbelievably good” Ziyech
Chelsea signing Hakim Ziyech’s “left foot is unbelievably good”, says right-back Reece James
Germany internationals Timo Werner and Kai Havertz were snapped up in deals which generated plenty of headlines, but it has been the signing of Ziyech that has been the taking the headlines over the past few weeks
The Morocco international has starred since shaking off an early injury in west London, with the 27-year-old’s creativity earning plenty of plaudits from media, fans and former players, who are excited to see just what he is able to bring over the course of the season.
James is enjoying playing alongside Thiago Silva at the back, but it is the left-foot of Ziyech that has got the Chelsea man very excited, James told The Athletic: “Thiago has brought a lot of experience. I have played alongside him a few times now. He has helped me a lot. You can see straight away why he has been one of the best in the world.
“He constantly talks to me throughout games, helping me in my positioning, directing me and making sure he is talking to me before, during and after games. It all adds up and improves performances.
“Further forward, there have been signs with Hakim in training. Ever since he arrived, we got on well. I knew I would be playing behind him. We clicked early and tried to build this connection in training to use this season. His left foot is just unbelievably good.”
Meanwhile, Reports from Germany have claimed that Chelsea are still interested in trying to sign Jerome Boateng in the January window
During the summer transfer window, it was no secret that Frank Lampard was looking to bring a leader to that back-line, a defender that has won everything at the top of the game and a defender that would improve his squad.
That led to all sorts of speculation in the media that Chelsea were interested in making a move to try and bring Boateng back to the Premier League, with reports claiming that Bayern were willing to let the man leave.
However, that did not happen, Chelsea did not make an official move, Bayern kept hold of the defender and in the end, the Blues opted to bring Thiago Silva to the club after he left PSG at the end of last season.
But according to Sport Bild in Germany, Bayern Munich will refuse to offer Boateng a new deal in the coming months, meaning that he can enter negotiations with European clubs over a pre-contract agreement to move in the summer, as he is out of contract at the end of the current season.
Look, if the reports are true and Chelsea are interested in securing a transfer deal for Boateng, then they need to stop, think about it, and realise that he is not the player they need.
He is no Thiago Silva, so adding him to the squad would not be a smart move.
